HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME

Started by: mollie m (8157)

Yep, three quarters of a century old today. How is that even possible? How have I managed to get to this age without doing meself a lot more damage than I’ve already done? Maybe I do have nine lives.

Thanks guys. It's been a long life (so far) and I still have
lots of long memories of times gone by.

I didn't know which I fancied tonight. Chinese or Indian and then I thought, am not bothered which country he's from as long as he entertains me.

Many thanks folks. I got some lovely cards from friends, and some lovely ones from people at work as well.

Mr Biker: I did treat meself to an Indian, and plenty more left for me freezer for future feedings!

Cheers, Tom. As long as I can get around and still have an active brain, I'll carry on working.

Britain's oldest working nurse is 84, bless her, and Britain's oldest Postmistress was 93 when she retired, so I've a long way to go yet before I get to the Guinness Book of Records!

Thank you, Jo Anne. Not seen much of you recently.

I've been sitting pondering, thinking about my past and I can vividly remember things from my childhood like first learning how to read and write at age three and reading me Noddy books; then graduating to Janet and John at age five; I remember wanting to be picked to be an angel at the nativity play when I was six, but teacher said “we couldn’t possibly have a dark angel”; collecting my sets of Horniman’s and Brooke Bond cards from African Wildlife, British Birds, Australian Plants, when I was seven, and putting them in order in a used box of Contrast, which they fitted in perfectly. Then jump to my teens and starting work for solicitors, typing on a, then, 30 year old manual typewriter. Getting married at 22 and starting a whole new life as a soldier’s wife and seeing places I would never have seen had I married someone else. Such happy memories for the most part.

My goodness. As they say “tempus fugit” - time flies.

Aw thanks very much.

Mr Biker:

It was a Meat Thalli. A bit of all sorts - chicken tikka masala, prawn bhuna, lamb madras, rice and a mixed started. Deelish!

Sonlyme:

Belated birthday greetings to you as well. That King Charles bloke has no manners at all.

Cheers, Frecky.

Mr Biker: Do I seem like the sort of person I'd keep toilet roll in me fridge? Don't be silly man. I keep mine in me freezer. Doesn't everyone?

I honestly don't remember that, but it was done by other members on another Wigan forum, usually at the stroke of midnight, and a challenge ensued as to who would get there first!
