Calling Tommy two stroke to the front desk,

Started by: tomplum (13857)

Hello Tommy tee, in your capacity as leading IT consultant for WW, I wonder if you can help me with my 'Ring' door bell chime, The blue light is flashing, After a lengthy search for info from the Ring help robot, I was advised to plug the chime in near the modem as, Is probably trying to update and the signal is not strong enough, That failed so my next move was going to be, smack it hard with a 16 oz claw hammer but, After a calming brew I rethunk the situation and thought of you,

Tom

I am going to 'presume' that you have turned off all of the other stuff you have on your WiFi network, CCTV cameras etc , so that nothing else which uses WiFi in your house can be interfering the Ring thing, and you have switched your router off, and waited a couple of minutes before switching it back on, but having no experiance with Ring devices, but after having a look on the Ring help website, it would appear that the device is run from an app in your phone, which will mean that you will have to have a phone with an up to date operating system in it, and I am sure that you were on here not that long ago boasting about not having a smart phone, because you used your telephone to make telephone calls and nothing else.

If that is the case then stick your hand pocket or more likely into your bank account and buy a smart phone

If I am wrong about that then many apologies, but from what I can see to set up the Ring device, you have to connect the phone to the Ring device directly from your phone via WiFi, to which the app in the phone will then take you through the procedure to connect the Ring device to your router, so I hope that helps Tom

TTS is spot on. Not sure how you monitor the door bell without the app , I have looked into my settings on the door bell and it shows link devices if it is not showing the chime then it may need a reinstall as I cannot see any direct reset.

I would not delete the app just go into your camera setting and delete the linked chime and reinstall if that is the only cure

Well I did Wigman and now in a worse place than i was earlier, My trouble in not being too good on a fone key pad so, as the passkey comes, that screen goes off and I forget the number so the fone is too smart for me to work from so now, I've retreated and will reform and attack it again tomorrow when my brain batteries have been recharged, I need a lie down now

Oh no
I think after a good sleep and your batteries are fully charged I hope once you reload the app with a bit of luck your door bell will be still be there, and then check that your chime is a linked device and if not just reinstall it I know easier said than done
