birds
Where have all the birds gone I have a bird table on which I put suet pellets with mealy worm in them ,I also have suet balls hung up on the bird table . For the last few days no birds have been anywhere near the table and I have not heard the dawn chorus or the screeching of the gulls over the last few days.I don't think it as been anything to do with fireworks has none have been let off close by i went out about 6-00ish and scrapped the suet loose which had stuck to the table

I think with the weather being so mild the birds are still getting plenty food from wild sources. Hopefully when the cold returns so will the birds?

There is still plenty of natural food in the wild, insects, berries, grubs, slugs etc due to the mild weather. They will come back.

I’ve just been watching a little robin trying to get to the suet pellets that I’ve got hung up..but a blackbird is stood guarding them,on the branch in front of the tree…that’s exactly what it looks like..the little robin keeps trying to get near but the blackbird won’t budge..I’ve never seen that happen before.

Ironic this morning I have been digging a bamboo stump out of my front garden and stopped to talk to a lady walking her dog. She said look behind you there is a Robin and she said it will be looking for worms/bugs that you are digging up. It was only about a foot away and did not seemed bothered about me working It just hopped around me has though I was not there

Blackbirds will do that, and Robins can be handfed worms with a bit of patience.

A friends hubby was digging in their garden and the little robin was sat on his spade just waiting for any worms being dug up.
