Toilet Advice .......

...... for old aged Americans ...... Instead of calling your toilet "John", change it's name to "Jim". People will be more impressed when you continually tell them you've "been to the Jim three times today"!

Although people have been invented millions, if not billions of years ago, the modern toilet, the WC ( water closet) was only available for us since the 1960's . As a kid I remember the midins so, how about,
" hey tonks are you biddin' for the Midin ?"

Nay lad. The first flushing toilet was invented by Sir John Harrington back in the 16th century. He was godson to Queen Elizabeth I, but it was only a prototype to the one we all know and love today.

The modern toilet was designed by one Thomas Crapper (I kid you not) and he was a plumber who invented the ballcock and designed the S-bend and U-bend in the late19th century.

Ne' then. Wot dust reckon to that?

A famous celebrity in the Northwest won the pools in 1962, He won £50000 which, was a Kings ransom back then and. he said, " I'm not going to squander the money, I'm going to keep working and spend the interest as it comes in, After 6 months his interest came in and he had an inside toilet and bathroom built, 6 months later when the interest came in again, He had a patio built with a barbeque, 6 months from that, he threw a party/barby in the new patio area ,
Dozen's of friends came and admired his new extension and patio and, He said proudly, " I've not let the money spoil my living "
A bloke listening in said, " are you kidding us, You used to eat inside and shit outside ",,,,,,,

Yes, Tom, they were only really available in the 60s. Mum told dad she wanted a "proper" bathroom suite, so he separated their large bedroom leaving room for a bathroom with bath, wash basin and toilet - in pink. He also left a corridor leading from their bedroom door to bathroom door, then got a firm in to do the plumbing and installation. I do remember though that I couldn't have been any older than 10 years old at the time because we left the shop in 1962.
