It was first shown in 1984 at the height of the Cold War, and it certainly makes you think LINK

Yes, I've seen it before - a good while ago now in fact, and it's very frightening, really horrific, and definitely worth watching.

Threads was advertised as coming to Britbox 'soon' in early 2022 about a month before Russia invaded Ukraine, but after the invasion it did not arrive on Britbox until the following Autumn, other program titles which had been advertised at the same time as Threads, appeared just before Easter of that year, so it was deliberately kept back because of the Russian invasion, Britbox has now been absorbed into the subscription service of ITVX.
The bit which was cut out last night was the execution scene, where the dialogue said that Military Courts had been set up, which could order the summary execution of offenders such has looters, and a priest is seen giving the last rites to two blindfolded prisoners who are kneeling before being shot by a firing squad, they just showed the intro to the scene last night, where just one chap is getting shot.
