It's more because their speed off with the company's they work unless of course the been sensationalized and the government s paying their wages, yet another Tory failure

"Is that because they don't t need the overtime ?"

If they are being paid nearly £80,000 a year for a 4 day week. then they probably don't. £600 a day for a days overtime isn't a bad little earner.

I the privatised companies chose to rely on overtime rather than recruits the required number of drivers then they chose to destroy industrial relations yet another Tory failure they've ruined the country over the last 14 year well done Tory voters

The money for the train drivers huge 15% above average pay rise had to come from somewhere.

The pay rise is nearer to 14% than 15%.
And bear in mind that is over 3 years, not a 14% annual rise.

They deserve every penny. Well done to all the Trade Union members for toughing it out and sticking to their guns.

No pay rises should be given by any government to any industry in the private sector as the profits of the company should be good enough to sustain any pay rise!

The non union train drivers have made a fortune from overtime working during the industrial action. Some picking up well over 100K in annual earnings.

Train driver’s settlement.

A 5% backdated rise for 2022-23, a 4.75% rise for 23-24, and a 4.5% increase for 24-25.

Total pay rise = 14.937%

TTS

British Rail employed drivers as apprentices who went through various duties before starting driver training. The franchise companies took on older people to train as drivers. Recently there was a coming together of the old apprentice trained drivers and the franchised recruits retiring at the same time. Add in the effects of Covid and there’s a big problem of driver shortages. Drivers can’t go onto a route unless they have been trained on that route. This takes up a lot of time. Usually when a train is cancelled through no driver available there will be a driver but he won’t have been trained on the route.

"THE 3 YEARS THAT IS OVER IS 2022/3, 2023/24, and 2024/25 then it will start all over again"

It's been backdated, then. And rightly so.
Its the same criteria with a lot of business's. If pay negotiations are on running until an agreement can be orchestrated then they will be rightly compensated for any financial deficit during the said period.

I also wonder if his assisted dying bill will turn out like the organ doner bill, from opt in to opt out, helping rid burden of pensioners and disabled peoples income

I would imagine pensioners railcards will still be available for concessionary travel on the railway.
Also pensioners free bus pass has its benefits of free travel plus for an extra £10 they can get add tram and train to their pass, for a year's unlimited off-peak travel on Metrolink and trains within Greater Manchester.

I'll be taking advantage of it next year

What world are you living in?

Both the main political parties of today are no different wher the running of the country is concerned.

The Tory's yesterday, Labour today, back to the Torys tomorrow and so on.

In the meantime, those who no longer vote just get on with enjoying life as they know that both are as bad as each other when in power..

Whups

It is yourself and a few others who come on here who need to take off any blinkers if you cannot see that the Labour Party is now no longer the Socialist Party it was before Blair, Campbell and 'Lord Mendalson' created what is now a second centre right party.

And when are you going to get it into your simple mind that I have never been a Tory be it in the past, present or future, just one of the many thousands who no longer vote or vote for a independant candidate as they now see no difference between the two main political parties.

Do the last three posters have to prove the level of their political thinking?

As for moaning, I have never moaned nearly everyday with the same little bit of retoric about the Tories having being in power for fourteen years which we all know about, moaned about the NHS being fully privatised when there is nothing by any political party to indicate that they intend to do so or moaned about pensioners going on holidays to Benidorm paid for by their heating allowance.

Have a enjoyable day!
