St. EDWARDS CHAPEL OF EASE KIT GREEN ROAD
A friend is looking for an image of this church. It was located on the corner of Blenheim road and Kit Green road It had a prominent crucix. Has anyone got any photos of it? I believe it was used as an Overspill from St Edwards school It was opened in 1965.

The church you are thinking of was actually the Church of the Precious Blood and was a Chapel of Ease for St Edwards in Scot Lane, Newtown.
Sorry don't have a picture.

On Scot Lane (with crucifix) go to wiganbuildings.co.uk or go on google maps street view and pan down Scot Lane

It did belong belong to St Edwards in Scot Lane.
It was used for a short time in the early 70s as a overspill for St Edwards School. It was only used at most about twice a week,Saturday evening for anyone wanting to go to confession, and one mass on a Sunday Morning. It and St Edwards never had to my knowledge a walking day.St Edwards did though have the crowning around May,that used to have a small procession but mainly round the church.

St Edward's never had a walking day nor did my church, St Cuthbert's.
The church of The Precious Blood was not on Scot Lane. It was on Kitt Green Road as previously stated.
If you contact the Archdiocese of Liverpool their archive may have a picture of it but there will not be a walking day picture as walking day never took place at these churches.

I remember that church clearly, I drove past it many a time, it was made out of wood, and that cross with a Christ being crucified was as big as the church, it was massive, and it was gory, and I thought that is meant to instill the fear of Christ into Marsh Green folk
I can't find any photos of it though, so it must be that cross, folk were too frightened to take a picture of it

There is a Church at the bottom of Kitt Green Road on the corner of Wessex Road and it is the C of E St Barnabus.
According to the A-Z of Wigan dated 2016, there is a cross at the junction of Blenheim Road and Kitt Green Road which indicates a Church, but if you go on Google Earth, there are houses and no church at the site.
