OK if someone out there who can read and understand the problem please inform the 3 thick as black smook goons in the ignored shed, your advice is worth diddly squat and I'll keep the scratches, all I need now is nob yed fiat 500 telling me how he got the dent in his wing fettled,,

Just a thought.

Here I am, Tom!

I use Brasso for polishing light scratches out. But, if you've got a deepish scratch, gone through the top lacquer, get some coloured wax polish. Same colour as your car, obviously!

A quick stop gap is toothpaste.

Thats an interesting one Peter, Please elaborate, I know there is no black toothpaste so, how does that work ?

Tom, that stuff you've ordered will do the same job as Brasso, only Brasso is £2.50!
It'll make your car shiney, but it won't cover any scratches up as good as 'coloured wax' will.

I thought that I've ordered was a coloured wax ? I know brasso is a metal abrasive , I have brasso ' in house' so whats a coloured wax and where would i get one, Will Dave Green have some ?

Thanks Mollie T cut is an abrasive like Tonkers Brillo, it will shine the paint but not fill the scratch,,

A paint touch up pen in your car colour should sort it, the Range sell them.

Tom it was by coincidence that I was reading about using toothpaste to get rid of scratches on cars the other day[:) They recommend using a pea size amount of paste and use a soft cloth and work it into the scratch . Google how to use toothpaste to get rid of scratches on a car

PeterP, tooth paste on a wet sponge is good to clean a dirty wind screen.

Tom?
Maybe I am thinking too hard here but….

Perhaps find a car detailing or bodywork repair forum and ask the question there.

All you will get here is answers from the same old bunch of no-nowts offering what they think is useful advice but in reality is useless.

Tom, Greeny is good, however ….. he’s not ‘old school’. He’ll recommend a product which costs an arm and a leg. It’ll work, granted, but you try working on a car’s paintwork stood on one leg with only one arm !
“COLOURWAX” is what you want. I have some, but I’m over in Spain till next Wednesday!
Try some Brasso on an area of your car and see the result.

My car as a few scratches, and the car is a very dark in colour, so I bought a permanent marker pen set from The Range for about three quid, and then went over the scratches with the colour marker pen, which was too bright and then went over the scratch gently with the black pen which brought the colour intensity down, I did that a few times until the colour in the scratch matched the surrounding paintwork, cheap, cheerful and it worked, and because it was a permanent marker pen, it was water proof, and it lasts for about a year before it needs doing again

Are you addressing your comments at me Tom....or not?

We have been here many many times before and all going back many many years. I appreciate it would appear (at least to you) that The Right Honourable Mr Sledge seems to be following you around in a red Fiat 500 wherever you go, and indeed some may say is living in your head 24/7 (Might I add that I sympathise with the condition you are obviously suffering from) but If you wish to believe I actually am the Rt Hon Mr Sledge and as such feel obliged to address me as such I am quite happy to go along with it if it helps you to cope with your condition and makes you feel more.....well..... secure in life

Please, and for the sake of everyone on the panel, would you clarify and in doing so allow us to all move along.

Thanks
