You could get a good view from Billinge Road

You would indeed Peter, I had a ringside seat when the Westwood towers came down and i heard, the worsley mesnes high rise flats wobbled with the blast shock wave,,
I wonder what they will build on the site ?

The total site must cover a few acres, It will be a few years before it is fit to use for anything.

My father in law did some of the scaffolding on fiddlers ferry towers.

Thanks for that Jo anne , I wonder how close I'll be able to get, I bet the fiddlers ferry pub will do a special Sunday Lunch, Bangers n Smash or Minced Towers with Peys,,

That date doesn't sound right, it is too soon.

Tom, I don't think you'd see the power station from the Fiddler's Ferry pub?
Replied: 19th Oct 2023 at 19:23
You can clearly see the towers from there Tonks and I'm assuming they will cut off the path passed them there because the towers are roughly a mile away from the pub from the Warrington side and from the Widnes side, they will close a good amount of industrial sites and roads unless they make another Fred Dibnar to take them down brick by brick

It is sad to see all those old cooling towers to be blasted out of existence.
Such an unusual shape, built out of concrete, in the hyperbolic paraboloid shape. A feat of engineering. I once looked them up to see how they were constructed, and that's how I found out the shape, but too much engineering jargon for me to really understand.

I totally agree Mollie, All the construction and materials going to waste, With a bit of thought and imaginative thinking out of the box, they could home thousands of immigrants inside,,,

It is sad to see them go.
The live feed doesn’t seem to be working, Warrington Guardian has live updates: here

They’re gone! I’m sure I heard the blast in Ince?

I heard it too, and after playing back the demolition on Facebook, that sound I heard is definitely the sound of the explosion, because between Wigan and Fiddlers Ferry the terrain is flat, so there is nothing to block the sound, but I don't think they could have had worse weather for watching them come down
If Tom went, I think he might have had a wasted journey
The other four towers have yet to be demolished though, I don't know on what date those are coming down.
