Was only asking that question the other week. When I was in my late teens I had at least four made to measure suits as did lots of my mates. You had a choice of four or fives tailors in Wigan, now I don't think there is one. How times have changed for the worse!

When I was there, (1960's), I had them made by Coops. Alas long gone now. They were at least as good as any of the other made to measure tailors which I have since used.

Had a friend who worked there, so got them at reduced price (They called it a house job) if I bought them when production was slack.

GB Slater menswear. Fishergate in Preston and Manchester, son used them for years. Google them and you will find one near to you.

It is rather sad that you have to go out of town and pay quite a fee for the privilege of a made-to-measure suit. I know that Slaters or Moss Bros in Manc can do a similar service based on their off the pegs. When I was a teenager it was cool to have a made-to-measure... and not too much difference in price from the pegs.
I had 2 suits made in Wigan at Burtons; the first was quite a traditional one with waistcoat (I think I was 15. The next was a light brown herringbone pattern suit with the flares of the time and lines of 6 buttons on the wrists.
My last made to order was at John Collier for my wedding in 1975. I ordered a suit with flared trousers, large lapels and in serge blue, and get this... in velvet! It was either stunning or stunned people!
Despite protest from a few relatives and friends, I refused to cut my very long hair or shave my grizly beard for the wedding.
Best day of my life!

Guys these days prefer shorts and t-shirt as regular clothing for restaurants, etc... and girls prefer gym wear!

Lads used to go out in suits to attract the girls, now the girls go out near naked to attract the lads!

What i have also noticed is the lack of decent shoe store's i was out with the wife and believe it or not we hardly saw anyone wearing shoes anymore ,whay people were wearing is trainers /pumps /these sketcher thingy's but just one or two with proper shoes.
Another thing if you notice is when one is travelling abroad on planes when i go places i tend to go smart , but when one looks around almost everyone are wearing bloomin jeans ,and they don't seem to take pride in what the wear today !!!!

I nearly always wear jeans, but never, ever, wear 'trainers'. And I wouldn't be seen wearing a shirt and suit with no tie!
