Haigh Hall
A six foot fencing was being erected around the hall this morning.
Looks like the planned "levelling up" improvements are due to start

Nice to see something being done to this beautiful building ...hopefully some concern will prize it from the council's grasp when it's completed before they ruin it AGAIN .

Yes, hopefully it is going to be a major national attraction.
I do hope so.

Good idea TTS....Wigan needs something...not a new fangled town centre white elephant which will do nothing to attract outsiders.

They have to be that big, so that he can fit his 'spurs' on to them

buy the fella on the right an iron.also wondering why he needs a hang around the neck id card at haigh hall? I'm using hang around the neck right now as if i happen to walk around as there is a valid and compulsory reason for doing so ..

Why have they never made it into a tourist attraction like Chorley have done with their Astley Hall.
It was never going to take off as a posh hotel with kids attractions nearby!

The contractors who will renovate the place will never be photographed or receive any recognition , only the bosses. it's the way of the world.

He is the chap in charge from the Council, middle name 'Gormless' he needs that ID badge so he remembers who he is, and those to the left of him saw him coming, and when it all goes wrong (remember this is Wigan Council) he will get sacked for it

The fencing had nearly been completed this morning with only a small section behind the hall to erect.

The fencing has no holes/viewing slits in it . Why can the ratepayers not view what is being doneSurely a mesh fence would have been cheaper and also the public could see the work being done instead of being hidden away from their eyes

My guess is that the outside at some point might be sandblasted, don't want dust everywhere or in your eyes. for that matter. We might have a pleasant surprise when the renovations to the exterior are done.

Well it is obviously a bespoke fencing system, not just wooden hoardings nailed together.
So obviously with an isolated place like Haigh Hall, security is going to be an tissue, so it stops prying eyes, looking at what there is to steal from there, and another thing is that Haigh Hall at the front is open to the elements, wind and rail lashes the place, so it might be a closed system to shelter workmen and the hall itself from bad weather
Mind yoo cowboys should be used to working outside in all weathers
