jo anne, It's the 'before' picture of Dostaf and Dustafs fish so I guess it would have been taken in their high security excercise enclosure

Douglas - the 'before' picture of Dostaf and Dustafs fish

No, indeed it is not, Douglas! (Is Dostaf's a fish called Wonder?)

It's not Three Sisters, Lonewolf57.

And it is very close to a lake, Spud1.

Jo anne, if it is the lake to the right hand side, it is indeed the Amberswood site and the lake is the one which was made when they filled the Greenwaters in for the open cast mining, it is just behind the old Strangeways pub near to the old Hindley Station on Liverpool Road,

I haven't seen the chainsaw sculpture at Haigh for a while, Jo Anne, not sure is the woodpeckers nested there this year.

In the past they have re visited it, but made new nests.

I see the marina never happened.

This was supposed to be happening when the cooling towers went.

If I'm not mistaken it was/is mentioned on the video of the demolition by Geoffrey Shryhane.

Replied: 27th May 2013 at 15:38

Seems so, Jo Anne.

At the time 1989 ish there was alot of talk about how the place would be a sort of natural area including a marina.

I think some civic dignitary or other spoke to Mr Shryhane about it at the end of his video, A sort of 'what of the furure?' epilogue.

Do you go there at all nowadays, Sonlyme? I don't think the wildlife were too keen on me today - I disturbed a number of ducks when I went a bit too near the water to take a photo.

Just been thinking about those chainsaw sculptors. I think the very small saws they use must be purpose made.

ie I can't think why, other than for art, the manufacturers would make them.

Thanks, Staffbullterrier, I'll do that.

Yes, Mache - a flounder is a flat fish, as is a plaice.

There's a place for every fish (though every fish isn't a plaice. )

And there's a lace for every boot, though every boot hasn't a lace.
