Where is this?
jo anne, It's the 'before' picture of Dostaf and Dustafs fish so I guess it would have been taken in their high security excercise enclosure

Douglas - the 'before' picture of Dostaf and Dustafs fish
No, indeed it is not, Douglas! (Is Dostaf's a fish called Wonder?)
It's not Three Sisters, Lonewolf57.
And it is very close to a lake, Spud1.

I think I know where it is Joanne, but I won't say yet..

I've only recently discovered it, Custard, having lived quite close by to it for years. It's a beautiful place.

I don't think so, Lonewolf57 - though I don't actually know the name of the place and hoped Wiganworlders would be able to help.

Replied: 27th May 2013 at 14:34
Jo anne, if it is the lake to the right hand side, it is indeed the Amberswood site and the lake is the one which was made when they filled the Greenwaters in for the open cast mining, it is just behind the old Strangeways pub near to the old Hindley Station on Liverpool Road,

I haven't seen the chainsaw sculpture at Haigh for a while, Jo Anne, not sure is the woodpeckers nested there this year.
In the past they have re visited it, but made new nests.

Sorry for tandeming, but I don't think the railway has run for two years now.
Replied: 27th May 2013 at 15:11
That's soon gone by, Dostaf. We used to walk near the sculpture quite often, but we take our dog to Haigh Hall far less nowadays as we're enjoying exploring the land local to Lower Ince.

I see the marina never happened.
This was supposed to be happening when the cooling towers went.
If I'm not mistaken it was/is mentioned on the video of the demolition by Geoffrey Shryhane.
Replied: 27th May 2013 at 15:29
Is that the area that the proposed link road will affect?
Replied: 27th May 2013 at 15:38
Seems so, Jo Anne.
At the time 1989 ish there was alot of talk about how the place would be a sort of natural area including a marina.
I think some civic dignitary or other spoke to Mr Shryhane about it at the end of his video, A sort of 'what of the furure?' epilogue.
Replied: 27th May 2013 at 15:47

Dostaf, the coinciding 16:27 posts are making me laugh - and I haven't even been drinking really.
Do you go there at all nowadays, Sonlyme? I don't think the wildlife were too keen on me today - I disturbed a number of ducks when I went a bit too near the water to take a photo.

Hence the wellies. (Mucky sods!)
Just been thinking about those chainsaw sculptors. I think the very small saws they use must be purpose made.
ie I can't think why, other than for art, the manufacturers would make them.

Very true, Mache - a flounder is only really in its element when it can go with the flow under water.

Would you believe I've lived in Lower Ince for over 15 years, Eilz, yet I've only lately begun to explore the area. The recent improvement of existing paths and creation of new ones too have made it great for walking & cycling and we see horse riders occasionally too.

A few older ones have had lucky escapes, hopefully, Jo Anne.
I think they are quite malleable and can fit under stones etc.
First thought is 'dog egg'.
I'd rather it be a dog egg than accidentally kill a frog/toad.
