Thomas Topping and his wife Jane ran the Social Club on Ashton Road, Hindley in 1891 and the Cow and Calves pub on Leigh Road in 1901. His eldest son was William Topping who went on to play for Ashton Town FC (goalkeeper) If anyone remembers either establishment or knows the family please get in touch.
