I'm looking for any information on the Lowtons of Wigan. Also anything on Charlotte Lowton b 1808. Her first husband William b abt 1795 was a alrady a widow. Who was his first wife? Charlotte is listed in 1851 as a Pauper and Hand Loom Weaver living in Lord Street Wigan with three children all under 10.In 1861 she has re-married to Daniel Wren living in Patrick Road and her occupation is described as: 'Keeper of a Mangle'. Was there a washhouse around here or was there a workhouse, can anyone help?
