James Beswick married Ann Bell in 1867 @ St Thomas Church, Ashton in Makerfield on the 14th July. James was a coalminer by trade. James originated from Pendlebury,Manchester but married a Wigan lass and subsequently stayed in Wigan.James and his wife Ann died within a year of each other. Their youngest children were taken in by their eldest daughter's husband-James Whittle.
