I have WOOD ancestors from Ashton-in-Makerfield and am trying to find out more.
I know very little so far, in fact all I have is a baptism for my 4 x great-grandmother whose father was a WOOD:
Baptised: 25/03/1810 (St. Thomas, Ashton-in-Makerfield).
Born: 08/02/1810
Betty 2nd child 1st illegitimate daughter of William WOOD, Ashton, hingemaker & Betty SIMKIN d & w (sic) William SIMKIN.
Betty WOOD/SIMKIN went onto marry John COTTAM in 1827.
Just putting my WOOD feelers out there to see if anybody can help or make a connection.
