Are you missing a William Green in the 1891 census? Ours appears out of nowhere at Fleece Yard, Scholes, with Elizabeth Davies. Census says he is married, she is his (single) housekeeper, though in truth they were an unmarried couple. In 1901 he says he is a widower, she is single, and their children are "visitors". Who was his legal wife? He never married Elizabeth, despite the children, and later changed his surname to hers. At Pearses Yard in 1901, thereafter at Bridgewater Street, Ince.
