        There are WALL LETTER BOXES at the Lancashire and Yorkshire, London and North-Western, Gathurst, and Garswood Railway Stations ; Appleton Street, Darlington Streeet, Silver Street, Greenough Street, Market Hall, the Infirmary, the Workhouse, Springfield, Billinge, Crawford Village, Dicconson Lane, Pimbo Lane, Upholland Moor, Orrell Post, Abram, Thwaites Delf, Worsley Mesnes, Thornhill ; Castle Hill, Atherton Road, and Stoney Lane (Hindley), Spring View (Lower Ince), Belle Green Lane (Ince), Four Lane Ends (Shevington), High Moor (Wrightington), Nichol Road (Ashton), Wigan Road (Hindley), The Moss (Orrell), Marsh Green (Pemberton), and Roby Mill ; and PILLAR LETTER BOXES in Mesnes Street, New Market Street, and Wallgate, for the receipt of letters only.

        Collections are made on Sundays from the Mesnes Street, New Market Street, Wallgate, L. and Y. Railway, L. and N.-W. Railway, Greenough Street, and Wigan Lane Letter Boxes at 8 p.m.
        POST OFFICE SAVINGS BANK, under Government security, is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturdays until 7 30 p.m. Sums of one shilling, or any number of shillings or pounds may be deposited up to £30 in one year. Yearly interest at the rate of £2 10s. per cent. is allowed. Any person desirous of saving one shilling, by means of one penny contributions, for deposit in the Post Office Savings Bank, may do so by purchasing with every penny so saved a penny postage stamp and affixing it to a form specially provided for the purpose. When twelve such stamps have been so affixed, the form may then be taken to any Post Office Savings Bank in the United Kingdom, where it will be received by the Postmaster, and one shilling be allowed for the stamps, which shilling will be accepted either as the first deposit in a new account then to be opened, or as an ordinary deposit if the owner of it has already opened an account.
