What a stunning photo Mike, so beautiful , a winter wonderland !

Comment by: Colin Traynor on 22nd January 2025 at 08:49

I did put a comment on much earlier this morning, perhaps it will pop up later, stunning photo Mile.

Comment by: Maureen on 22nd January 2025 at 09:19

Mike, that is an absolutely brilliant shot ..just brilliant.

Comment by: Veronica on 22nd January 2025 at 09:40

Makes me shiver looking at that view. Plenty footprints but nobody about…. Only the brave venture out to deliver these scenes to us ‘stay at homes’ good job Mike!
There’s another warning for the weekend it’s Eowin’s turn. Not sure if I’ve spelt that correctly but he’s probably Welsh.

Comment by: Peter on 22nd January 2025 at 11:09

WELCH, Veronica.
Beautiful Winter's day.

Comment by: Veronica on 22nd January 2025 at 11:16

I should probably know that Peter being a quarter Welsh/ Welch. Who’d have thought! I’ll try to remember that..

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 22nd January 2025 at 11:19

Welsh, Peter.....Veronica is correct. I don't know whether Eowin is a Welsh or Gaelic name , but a person from Wales is Welsh.

Comment by: Cyril on 22nd January 2025 at 11:35

Yes Storm Éowyn is on the way and could well give us a right battering, certainly not weather to be out in.

Those footprints remind of the Apollo moon landings . However , unlike these transient marks in the snow , those of Armstrong , Aldrin , etc are still there after 50 odd years .
Mike's excellent picture looks about as cold as the lunar surface too .
Happily for we earthlings , ' April come she will ' .

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 22nd January 2025 at 12:24

I love that song, "April Come She Will", Poet. Veronica, you were correct with "Welsh"....I am part Welsh too, "Welch" is a surname, eg Mr. and Mrs. Welch, but a person from Wales is Welsh.

Comment by: Veronica on 22nd January 2025 at 14:17

Thank you Irene! The older I get the more doubtful I become.

Comment by: Mike L on 22nd January 2025 at 14:35

Thank you all it was a beautiful cold day.

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 22nd January 2025 at 16:37

Sorry, Mike....I went on to p-a-d today to comment on your beautiful photo and got sidetracked with the "Welsh" comment! Absolutely stunning photo today! Hope you don't mind my asking, but are you from Ince?

Comment by: Peter on 22nd January 2025 at 16:39

I beg your pardon ladies.
I stand being corrected.

Comment by: Colin Trayy on 22nd January 2025 at 16:41

Mike, my comment that did not appear was to recall the time when this was a more industrial landscape with Westwood Power Station and the Cooling Towers dominating.
I don’t think I have seen transition since those days in the late 1950’s when I used to fish there with my mates.
Lovely to see it again in cloaked in its Winter White.

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 22nd January 2025 at 17:30

Don't worry Peter.....I have often put a comment on here and followed it with "I am happy to stand corrected", and I HAVE been corrected , many times!

Comment by: Mike L on 22nd January 2025 at 17:49

@irene Robert’s no not from ince. Im in the poolstock area. I spend a lot of time walking the canal and around the many ponds.

Comment by: Pat McC on 22nd January 2025 at 18:45

I was born and brought up in Wales - I am and always will be Welsh. The storm has an Irish name. A beautiful photo, thank you.

Comment by: Pat McC on 23rd January 2025 at 08:22

Sorry - eowyn has origins in Celtic, old English and Welsh according to the Internet - I didn't recognise the inflection over the 'e'. That'll teach me to check before posting!!

Comment by: Veronica on 23rd January 2025 at 11:18

I thought you would know Pat. I somehow ‘instinctively’ thought it had Welsh connections.
I can’t believe I doubted myself over Welsh/ Welch!

Comment by: Tom on 23rd January 2025 at 11:21

Such a sad photo if you have lost someone to that water, and there are many.
