A Traditional Pub Interior

A Traditional Pub Interior
There aren't many pubs still around like this, a Victorian Fire Place with Mahogany Surround and welcoming bunch of locals.
All very cosy when it's bitterly cold outside but it didn't stop me having my favourite tipple, an ice cold glass of Chardonnay!
Any guesses where?

The element Ag where you might make a wish?

Since I live in Canada, I have no clue but I'll hazard a guess. The Colliers arms at new Springs.

The Silverwell Hotel ( it says it on the window- I think)

If you're good at reading backwards, try reading the name that's on the middle window.
I used a pencil and paper to help me solve the question.

The window's a bit of a giveaway, Colin!

That looks like my fireplace and my curtains.....I wondered where my chardonnay had gone!! It's The Silverwell.

Bit of a clue in the window

Unless you have been in this pub you would be guessing for ever more .Is it in the Wigan area or further afield? It looks very appealing and caters for families going of the balloon. Do they open up the fire in winter?

Are those tables for playing dominoes on so you can scoop up your winnings from the corners or to let your beer run off when your glass gets knocked over?

It’s the Silverwell.

Silverwell,in Darlington Street.

Yes The Silverwell, Darlington Street East, you are all to clever and observant.
I think I’m right in saying that it’s the only pub still going on that side of Wigan, not even sure if the Crispin is still open?

I was at a funeral a few years ago. I was sat on the left hand side of the fireplace. Not been inside since. I like the Victorian fireplace but can’t say if it is original there were so many replicas in the Eighties and my last house had one which I had put in.

Yes, it will be a modern fireplace. We had ours put in in 1999 but it suits my old-fashioned taste. I actually have an old pub mirror over the top of it, advertising Players Navy Cut Tobacco and Cigarettes. They have a replica mirror in the pub on "Goodnight Sweetheart"and it always feels odd, seeing one on our telly screen and one on our chimney-breast at the same time!

I love velvet curtains they are very expensive to buy these days. They keep the rooms warm in Winter. I have some made from a place near the Brocket.

Big Harold, reading backwords is second nature to myself.
Having lived and worked in the middle east for many years I had to read architectural drawings. As you might might know they read right to left not left to right as we do, although the Arabic numerals are different they are in the same direction as our own.
Got me thinking that many children leave school at 16 and can't read forwards let alone backwards. So well done, you are top of the class!!!!

I'm a very modern person, don't like the fireplace, carpets and mirrors.
I have no carpets, mirrors in the bathroom only and wall mounted fire.
It's so clean and tidy looking.
I'm not throwing the spanner in the works, just my way of life.

"Big Harold, - well done, you are top of the class!!!!"

Hey, I got it first (although I answered using Parbold rules) and Broady got it second so BigH is only third.
