A Treat

It was fantastically beautiful.
Photo: Dennis Seddon (Sony DSC-HX99)
So glad you said Wigan Park Dennis, because that's how its always known to us as kids, not Mesnes Park.
Brilliant photo.
That’s magical! Two days on the run with a feast for the eyes. And a sprinkling of snow.
Lovely Wigan Park
Ps it’s me
VeeBee sipping
Earl Grey Tea.

Dennis, that is a stunning photo, just magical !
It’s me again…..This photo deserves to be in Lancashire Life or the cover photo in next year’s calendar for January..the Park is the last bastion of unspoilt Wigan!
Good photo.
I missed the treat and the ice cream too.
Great photo !
A beautiful photo Dennis. Thank you. Always thought the roof had an oriental look to it. Lovely. Also enjoy a cup of Earl Grey Veronica!
It looks even nicer this morning with all the trees covered in frost.
Get out there and have a brisk walk before the sunshine burns it off.
Hope you enjoyed sipping your Earl Grey, Veronica....shades of the tea-room in Brief Encounter! (The sugar's in the spoon!).
I too am sipping tea , (Yorkshire in my case), on my couch, and behind me on my living room wall is a sepia photo of Wigan Park cafe taken in 1895....I'm happy to say it looks exactly the same as in the photo above.
Beautiful photo Dennis. We live within walking distance, and we just call it The Park. We wouldn’t dream of calling it Mesnss Park, we go there quite often. How times have changed. We spent all our courting days in the park cafe on a Sunday afternoon, having milkshakes as that was the place to go. We used to run down those steps, when you were taking that photo, I was terrified of going out in case I fell, so many happy memories.
Carrying on from yesterday, so sad that people we went to school with have passed away. I also went to St John’s. I moved from New Springs to Aspull when I was nine, but carried on going there until Aspull opened when I was twelve. It was a brilliant school with lovely teachers, a lot of them from St John’s. It’s great that you get about so much Dennis. Would love to see you around someday with your camera.
Lovely scene Dennis although I am very glad to see the back of the snow.
There wouldn’t be many sat outside on the terrace eating ice cream, more likely inside with a hot cup of Janie Lee.
As far as photos of Mesnes Park go, it's not a bad effort, and congratulations on getting out there in the bad weather to take them while most of the Pad viewers are still at home next to their fires.
But what lets it down to being fit for a magazine or a calendar is the lack of snow, you can see too much grass polking through and the shadows of the trees are making it look mucky.
Irene, it's just what I've heard, I think some people think that way because many of your posts are always a few minutes after one another.
You can call it what you want, who cares.
It’s still Mesnes Park, always was and always will be unless some Labour Gobbin decides to change it to Lisa Nandy Pandy Park.
Mesnes Park is the correct name.
Wigan Park is what we've been brought up with, so all depends on your up bringing. Wigan Park for me.
Good photo Dennis, the trees are looking spectacular too, each with a good dusting of glistening snowflakes and hoar frost.
With the local schools closed for a snow day or two, quite a few children could be seen going along to the park and pulling their plastic sleds behind them, or parents pulling them along on their sled.
Now now WN6, Lisa Nandy will have to get in the queue behind "I Do Beelieve It" David Molyneux MBE, for the renaming of the park.
It was a good school Kath H and the facilities were 100%better than the facilities at the old school that we came from. Some of the teachers were excellent.
i haven’t been getting around as much as I usually do this Winter due to the never ending rain, but never mind it’ll soon be Spring.
Colin, there were lots of people in the Park that day and a lot of them were taking pictures and watching their kids having a great time on sledges.
I took quite a few pictures myself and one or two I printed off A4 size, something I don’t often do.
Earl Grey.....you have been watching too much Heartbeat on Itv 3.
Lord Ashfordly loves the tea brand.
A great picture Dennis . You can sense the fun and atmosphere .
I like the soldier above the steps . He reminds me of Eddie the Eagle about to embark on a ski jump .
Ha ha, Looks like he’s having trouble making his mind up if he should risk it or not Poet!
Drank Earl Grey long before ITV3 was a gl8nt 8n anyone's eye Tetley! Showing my age!
