Great pic of my once local park

Comment by: Big Harold. on 17th December 2024 at 04:45

It's better to have it in the park rather than Wigan Pier.
Yesterday, I attended the RSV clinic at RobinParkk and saw an NHS bus, so I asked the woman on board if she knew a David, but she didn't, because I was wondering where you had got to.

Comment by: Colin Traynor on 17th December 2024 at 08:56

Very colourful David.

Some thing to bring a bit of happiness in our lives during the festive season

Comment by: Veronica on 17th December 2024 at 09:21

I’m gonna get lit up when the lights go up in Wiggin…..
You’ll find me on the tiles, wreathed in smiles..I’ll be visible for miles…
Francis will be all shook up..the bin men will be drunk……
Wait until the leccy bill plops through the letter box…never mind we’re having fun..

Comment by: T. D. on 17th December 2024 at 09:56

Very good David.
Illuminations for the ducks.

Comment by: John (westhoughton) on 17th December 2024 at 11:09

Great photo David it reminds me of the last ELO do we attended at what was the Echo Arena Liverpool and hopefully be just as good when we go to Hyde Park London on their final tour next year.

Comment by: Maureen on 17th December 2024 at 12:08

Veronica,you’re missing your way flower.

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 17th December 2024 at 12:10

Veronica, that wartime song of yours reminds me of when we bumped into you at the 1940s event at Ingleton earlier this year.....we could do a duet and add another song, "When the lights go on again.....all over the Park"! I must say the cafe looks nice.

Comment by: Veronica on 17th December 2024 at 13:24

You can’t beat the old songs girls - full of meaning!

Comment by: T. D. on 17th December 2024 at 15:59

Ah Veronica, ti's the season!

Ah! Irene, you have spilled the beans on your 1940's day rendezvous in Ingleton.

There's a coincidence to share even though 'loose lips sink ships' and... I could get shot for this.

I'm in contact with a 1940's day spy. She does not wear the cross of Lorraine or a French maids outfit, or work with the French resistance, because that would give the game away and look a bit silly in Ingleton. She goes there incognito, after all she is a spy, and has brought back reliable information.
Now please listen carefully, I will say this once, and once only. There is a local chippy in Ingleton and they are doing... fried Christmas dinners! This is true, and they are very popular. Battered sprout, spuds, turkey you name it.. the chippy will do it.
TOP SECRET. Your mission, should you wish to undertake it? .. Seek and destroy!
Enjoy.

ELO. 'Hold on Tight'

Comment by: Dave on 17th December 2024 at 17:23

John , I’m betting on a third fight in the same place ! There’s too much money in that gaff and neither are young uns ! Fury as you know, even if he loses , will have a pay day with Joshua and again in the same place , the Arabs are buying out sport . Fury will spend the whole fight leaning on him to snuffle him out . If the Ukrainian knocks fury out who does he fight John in your opinion?

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 17th December 2024 at 17:43

TD...I know the "Chippy René" in Ingleton well but am never there at Christmas! Excellent chippy though! Been in many times for fish and chips at the forties events.

Comment by: Big Harold. on 17th December 2024 at 18:06

Ello, truck driving and grabbing a coffee and cake in Yorkshire.
At your age ot should be Brass band, Lorry driving and a mug of tea and butty.

Comment by: John (Westhoughton) on 17th December 2024 at 20:13

Dave,If fury gets knocked out or loses on points to Usyk this Saturday I would think a rematch with Daniel Dubois would be on the cards, hopefully fury does get to win but if I was a gambling man my money would be on Usyk but as you know anything can happen.

Comment by: T. D. on 17th December 2024 at 21:18

Irene,. sticking with fish and chips in the summer is good. They are not short of customers for the battered mince pies.

IMO,. the Gypsy King and the Ukrainian will both finish up battered for Christmas too.

Comment by: Big Harold on 17th December 2024 at 21:26

It's all a set-up to get silly folk to part with their money.
Best to. Do is not watch it.

Comment by: WN6 on 17th December 2024 at 21:32

Comment by: John(Westhoughton) on 17th December 2024 at 21:33

Comment by: Big Harold. on 18th December 2024 at 06:56

Ingleton chippy is an overpriced tourist chippy.
And they have what they call a 40s event menu, where the prices go up even more.

Comment by: Veronica on 18th December 2024 at 08:37

The village is worth it for the effort that is put in. It’s no different to all ‘touristy’ places. I thought the Village Hall was very reasonable with its prices. The shops were closed on the Sunday I was there. Nice welcoming folk who have to make some money for the area they live in, no different to other places.

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 18th December 2024 at 09:34

A "TOURIST" chippy??? I have been to Ingleton Chippy many times at the forties events and NEVER ONCE seen a "40s menu".....the locals in Ingleton wouldn't patronise it if it were high-priced; it is no different in price than any other chippy and they do "small fish-and -chips" for older people as do many chippies these days. Unfortunately fish is expensive now wherever you go. We always go to the chippies at forties events......Grassington, Haworth, Leyburn, Lytham etc, and not one of them charges more than the standard prices that their regulars pay all year round. The villagers would soon be up in arms about it if they kept changing their prices like some people change their identity.

Comment by: Big Harold. on 18th December 2024 at 11:22

The chippy in Grassington, Haworth and Ulverston all have 40s event menus; I know because I've been to them all (even made videos), but I'm not criticising the chippies for doing it I'm criticising you.

Comment by: Veronica on 18th December 2024 at 11:45

It’s sounds like Big H or whichever name he calls himself is just looking for a reaction Irene. I certainly don’t see where he’s criticising you. He is criticising the ‘ chippy’..as if YOU can determine the prices! Ignore him. He’s nothing better to do.

Comment by: T. D. on 18th December 2024 at 11:50

Yes Big H — Folk have to pay for their quality, black market deals during the authentic 40's rationing experience.
Of course any poor chap finding himself thirty bob short over the festive period, can ask for their battered sprouts.. on strap. That should keep them smiling through, untill.. the wife get's wind of it!

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 18th December 2024 at 11:57

Well THAT makes a change, Big Harold/Mick you criticising me!....you do nothing else! But it's always at the end of he day when most photo-a-day people don't return to that day's photo, so don't see the comments that are aimed specifically at ME.

Comment by: T. D. on 18th December 2024 at 13:30

Veronica, Irene and Big H.

Your reviews of Ingleton are on the way. Irene without I would be.. rene.
i shall be attendance at the next 40's event.
Thank you ladies.

Comment by: John (westhoughton) on 18th December 2024 at 14:27

Well said Irene and Veronica it’s obvious fake names are used to hide real I.D. for some unowned reason.

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 18th December 2024 at 14:33

He actually STATES that he's criticising me and not the chippies, Veronica. I'm totally at a loss as to what I have done. But thankyou for your support.

Comment by: Cyril on 18th December 2024 at 20:16

Irene, don't let the bugger get you down.
Big Harold indeed, here he is looking in a mirror -

I tried to find it Cyril but no success. I would have liked to see the Wicked Harold looking in his mirror…it is Panto Season after all…! “whose the fairest of us all?”

Strange as it was the correct link Veronica, though try this and see if the web page appears. It's also on tomorrows 18th
