That's what you might call "running repairs".

Comment by: Veronica on 16th December 2024 at 08:25

Poor lad - all those boxes and only one customer.

Comment by: Helen of Troy on 16th December 2024 at 08:31

The council should be spending some dosh on removing that chewing gum....all the fancy visitors who will come to Wigan & stay in the proposed fancy hotel won't think much of of the state of the pavements.
In KingsLynn, West Norfolk Council got rid of the gummey pavements along with the rats that were attracted by litter & food ....put out for the birds maybe ?

Comment by: Ticsmon on 16th December 2024 at 10:09

They'll get rid of the chewing gum when they replace all the cracked paving caused by the wagon.

Anyone tried his sausages.

Comment by: George (Hindley) on 16th December 2024 at 12:34

John Wayne was a Yugoslav.

Comment by: PeterP on 16th December 2024 at 13:44

I was in Wigan town centre this morning and there were more pigeons than people.

Comment by: Malc on 16th December 2024 at 13:51

PeterP, I've always said Wigan is full of vermin and strays.

Comment by: Veronica on 16th December 2024 at 14:35

I bet the pigeon population is going through hard times as well with nobody feeding them. I can’t see them pecking at the chewing gum. There certainly won’t be any half eaten pies on the ground.

Comment by: John (Westhoughton) on 16th December 2024 at 15:23

Looks to be all pre packed so no butchers block and no fat and boneman required.

Comment by: T. D. on 16th December 2024 at 18:42

Pigeons may go into decline and Victorian pie recipes at this time of year.

Ey up.. Another wanna be mind reader.

Now then Ladies this is so good you will not be disappointed….one digestive biscuit with a generous coating of Philadelphia original cheese and topped with a pineapple ring and that’s it very very moorish

Comment by: Pat McC on 16th December 2024 at 20:41

The meat on display doesn't look refrigerated, that would put me off buying anything.

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 16th December 2024 at 20:43

Philly cheese on a savoury cracker just up my street, John, (Westhoughton), but not a digestive as I'm not a sweet-tooth and not pineapple as I don't like fruit! Hope DTease is okay.

Comment by: Big Harold on 16th December 2024 at 21:47

Any cheese on a cracker other than the creamy Philly is very good after 10 to 20 seconds in a microwave.
Top them off with half a pickled onion.

Comment by: John (westhoughton) on 16th December 2024 at 22:35

Irene we would be awful boring if we were all the same.

Comment by: Big Harold on 17th December 2024 at 08:37

According to. Doctors Digestive biscuits are the best biscuits for older folk to eat at bedtime because they help your stomach to digest all the food you have eaten that day.
They also say all fruit is good for you, but I've not heard are seen any Doctors praising Greg's vegan sausage rolls.

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 17th December 2024 at 11:07

Is there a parrot in the house?

Comment by: John (westhoughton) on 17th December 2024 at 11:14

Irene seems like Harold is being unpleasant again please ignore x

Comment by: Veronica on 17th December 2024 at 12:45

I love a digestive but only M&S I buy a packet every week (cheaper too.). Best cheese for me is Strong Cheddar the stronger the better. Crumbly Lancashire is very good as well. But enjoy what you like folk ….your taste buds are your own! A bit like your fingerprints…

Comment by: Big Harold on 17th December 2024 at 13:25

There is nothing unpleasant about my post, I'm just giving some good advice that's all, try them with microwave cheese you will thank me for the recipe.

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 17th December 2024 at 13:26

Veronica, I know you don't go to Wigan much now, but if you go again, try "Creamy Lancashire" cheese from The Cheese Cabin in the Market Hall. Ask to try a little sample. Thanks for the kind words, John (Westhoughton).....I am used to "Harold".

Comment by: Veronica on 17th December 2024 at 15:16

I’ve actually bought some Lancashire cheese this morning to have over Christmas after all that rich food Irene.
( From M&S). It’ll keep…I will take your advice though next time I am in Wigan..probably when I need to go to SpecSavers or the Range. It’s a great pity all the best places have closed.

Comment by: John(Westhoughton) on 17th December 2024 at 16:55
