Very good news, I believe they have started renovation work on the old Navigation pub (Indian curry house) in Gathurst as well.
It's a refreshing change to hear of a pub being renovated instead of left to go to rack and ruin. I wish it well and hope it is a success.
If anyone remembers Carol who used to run the this many years ago ( I think it was called The Waterside) and lived on a Narrow Boat moored alongside, she now runs Potters Bar in Standish.
In the 1960’s early 70’s it was originally Appley Bridge British Legion.
Regarding The Navigation I went past the other day and although there were workmen on site I am unsure what its future might be. There is talk on a ‘Community Hub’ but like everything today funding could be an issue.
It's in a spectacular location so it should do well.
Thinking about it, Waterside or Waters Edge, I’m not sure!!!!
It was the Waters Edge, Colin.
Used to do the quiz every Monday back when it was run by Tony, who sadly died quite young...
Frozen canal down here Mick, it's fun watching the ducks sliding around.
Watersedge
There's a pub called The New Dog and Gun near a brook called Haigh Beck that joins the Leeds and Liverpool Canal in Apperley Bridge, not far from the marina. The irony of it all.
Carol ex Watersedge was a very good cook and was married to a friend of mine
Dek, Apperley Bridge, that’s Bradford way isn’t it?
Joan, I have posted a good shot of the frozen canal, it might just feature at some point.
Colin, you're right.....Apperley Bridge is in Yorkshire; I didn't like to say anything as I thought people would think I was being "picky". I'm sure Dek means Appley Bridge.
