nice to see a pub that is open and also leaving room on the footpath for pedestrians to walk past

Comment by: Veronica on 16th July 2024 at 06:55

At first glance I thought the shade of green looks a bit garish. But I suppose you could get used to it. The right bottom window just needs finishing.

Comment by: Michael Aspull on 16th July 2024 at 08:01

It's horrible, glad I don't live there anymore.

Comment by: Kath H on 16th July 2024 at 08:36

I think it looks really nice. My Dads old stomping ground.

Comment by: Jembo on 16th July 2024 at 08:57

That's not just green. It's GREEEEN!!!

Nice pic of it Dennis

Comment by: May on 16th July 2024 at 09:12

It's a shame the photo. doesn't have any people sat outside.

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 16th July 2024 at 09:23

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I posted a comment yesterday that didn't appear and one today that hasn't appeared. It was just to say I hope Queen Victoria is "amused"by her spruce-up. I'll try again....here goes...

Comment by: Aspuller on 16th July 2024 at 09:35

Beautiful pub and area.

Comment by: Colin Traynor on 16th July 2024 at 09:43

Yes, a nice picture Dennis, I think it is quite striking and certainly catches the eye.
Apologies for digressing Dennis but if John (Westhoughton) is viewing today, did you get my pictures? If not drop me a line. I think you have my email address.

Comment by: Jim on 16th July 2024 at 09:48

Yes, it needs people because it would be nice for future wiganers to look back to see how aspuliters dressed in the year 2024

Comment by: Poet on 16th July 2024 at 09:55

Looks alright to me , despite the bullet holes .

Comment by: Roylew on 16th July 2024 at 10:16

At least it’s open

Comment by: Colin Traynor on 16th July 2024 at 10:59

I had to zoom in to see those Poet.
They could from the Civil War, the one when Aspull was up in arms regarding Standish stealing their cobbles!
Or perhaps they are from the old signage just waiting for a replacement.

Comment by: John (Westhoughton) on 16th July 2024 at 11:23

Dennis if I’m truthful Green isn’t my favourite colour but I had a couple of pints in the Victoria just before the pandemic apologies for digressing as Colin rightly says,COLIN sorry but not received any emails from you and last night forwarded our other email address which I don’t mind you sharing with your friends on here although I do find WhatsApp easier and quicker for contacting so will forward my phone number then you have three choices to send those photos thanks.

Comment by: John(Westhoughton) on 16th July 2024 at 11:34

Check your emails Colin if you haven’t received they have gone to another Colin T. But certainly sent.

Comment by: Colin Traynor on 16th July 2024 at 12:24

Again, apologies Dennis.
John (Westhoughton) strange that none of our emails are getting through. My email address is:
colinptraynor@icloud.com
We can take it from there, although I do like green, must be the Irish in me!

Comment by: Jean on 16th July 2024 at 12:37

It is a nice pub and it's in a lovely area.x

Comment by: Ian on 16th July 2024 at 12:39

I've just received an email from you John but my girl deleted it think is was from a conman.

Comment by: Colin Traynor on 16th July 2024 at 15:34

Something weird is going on, I am receiving emails from people I don’t know so I’m deleting them.
That is the problem with sharing your name and contact details.

Comment by: Wiganer on 16th July 2024 at 15:41

Is it in Haigh or Aspull?
I would say Haigh and not Aspull.

Comment by: David Barker on 16th July 2024 at 17:26

Good photo Dennis, been my local for years, think I'm getting used to the green decor , The Victoria sign as been taken down while work is in progress.
The vault window on the right, is the worst of the lot, will have to be replaced I expect.
Wiganer the Victoria is in Aspull, the boundary for Haigh is on the bend near St Davids Church .

Comment by: Jean on 16th July 2024 at 18:09

I believe the boundary stone is a bit further up on the left, just before the turn to the church,so the pub is in Aspull.

Comment by: Dennis Seddon on 16th July 2024 at 18:35

Definitely Aspull Wiganer..

Comment by: Ex Speed Cop on 16th July 2024 at 18:37

Thaigh sign is further up the road.

Comment by: Wigan Mick's Bike Seat on 16th July 2024 at 18:47

It's Aspull, rest assured.

Comment by: John (Westhoughton) on 16th July 2024 at 19:34

Colin I’ve been missing the p out so emails have been going elsewhere so if you receive an email from ballmana open it as it’s mine we will get it right eventually.

Comment by: Aspuller on 18th July 2024 at 09:53

If its Haigh or Aspull both lovely places to live.
But it is Aspull by the way.
