Mission Impossible!

Mission Impossible!
Honestly, the things I do for WW!
View from the top of a Cherry Picker at the back of Standish Library.
The backs of the houses on the right are at the top of Church Street at its junction with Cross Street.

Well done Colin , an intrepid picture . Nice to see Hic Bibi from this angle. . The hills in the background are Fiendsdale Head and Parlick Pike just above Chipping .

Fine picture Colin, I won't ask what you were doing up there mate :)

I was walking past and the workmen were preparing for work on the roof of Trinity House on Cross Street.
Spying an opportunity, you know what the say ‘If you don’t ask you don’t get’ so up I went. Just wish it had been a bit sunnier.

Good job you've got a tounge in your head Colin. WW would have missed out without it. Well done it's a great view.

Sometimes a bloke just has it to do, bur it must be cowd up yon spires in o batmon suit!

You wouldn't think any workmen would risk their job by allowing a passerby to have a ride on the cherry picker

Did you have to use your bus pass?

I went past St Wilfrid’s last Saturday when going to Heskin Hall village. It looked very nice in the sunshine.

I hope you were insured Colin.

John, I had my Hi Viz Jacket, Hard Hat, Safety Boots, Goggles and my CSCS Card (which is still valid) with me from the days when you were doing a more sedentary job.
Up a Cherry Picker is child’s play when you are qualified.
I’ve been above some of the tallest buildings in the World during construction including the Toronto Sky Dome. Hope this addresses your concern. Kind regards, Colin.

You can say that again John, I think someone is telling fibs.

Comment by: Colin Traynor on 26th June 2024 at 15:21

Jon? I realise my previous comment sounded harsh, you point was quite valid.
I don’t always walk over to Lidl dressed like that, I had to come back home and put on appropriate gear.
I am so used to rudeness on this site, for a moment I lost my composure. Thanks for your polite comment.

Colin, there are obviously a lot of people called John about. just to let you know that the comment above wasn't from me, (the John who sometimes comments about Standish photos, such as the Market Place/Street question the other week).

Comment by: Colin Traynor on 26th June 2024 at 18:28

Okay, Okay glad someone caught me out, it was meant to be humorous.
The bloke on the Cherry Picker went up and took the picture for me but I was willing to go back and put my stuff on.
Nothing like a bit of exaggeration to get the ball rolling. Happy now?

Comment by: Edward on 26th June 2024 at 18:36

I don't think John was being rude
he was only pointing out the obvious that it would be unusual for the workers to allow a member of the public to go up in the cherry picker.

A good view from there Colin, thanks for sharing,
and thanks for naming the fells Poet

Comment by: Colin Traynor on 26th June 2024 at 20:29

Thanks all, it was all meant as a bit of fun, in place of some of the more, well you know what I mean!

Still called telling lies.

Comment by: Colin Traynor on 27th June 2024 at 09:58

For those who don't share my sense of humour. Mea Culpa, Mea Culp, Mea Maxima Culpa. Hope all is forgiven.

Comment by: Veronica on 27th June 2024 at 11:58

Perhaps it was wishful thinking Colin no harm in that. I don’t think I could go up there no matter how great to see all the wonders in the distance. I get a ‘strange feeling’ in my feet watching anybody at such a great height. It stems from being taken up in the lift in Blackpool tower ( aged 4) . I remember standing on bare floor boards and seeing through the cracks in them. I’m sure I didn’t dream that. This was before the floor was made solid.
