White Lion and Railway
Why is there always a disabled scooter parked outside a pub, is this tradition.
The White Lion appears to be ready for any emergency - defibrillator and wheelchair on hand!
Hope the person in the mobility scooter does not drink and drive, The building itself looks run down and uninviting. Even the wooden tubs need sprucing up, Probably completely different inside,
Pebbledash always looks run down if it’s not painted. A good coat of white paint would make a world of difference, after all it is The White Lion. The one where I live is always painted white - I don’t know about the inside I’ve never been in there. In Summer it looks like the ‘Gangs of New York’ stood outside. Every town seems to have a White Lion it must be one of the most popular names.
Used to go in here on Sunday nights years ago,it was always lovely and cosy.
Looks very run-down and a bit rough.
You need a defibrillator in case you collapse when they tell you how much your pint is going to cost these days.
I can remember when you could get five pints for a pound, now it’s five pounds for a pint in some places.
When I started drinking it was 1/10 for a pint of mild,an old bloke said if it ever goes up to two bob he would pack up drinking.
Yes looks run down and a bit rough but still open.
Been in there a few years ago and was nice inside.
The Squirrel at Ince Bar always has two disabled scooters outside the pub, is DWP paying too much.....
Lick of paint and get rid of or replace that rusty satellite dish and would look a million times better
A lick of paint works wonders, I think that's the only pub in Whelley now?
And not too sure about Whelley clubs? if any still open.
No idea when this photo was taken by Brian, link below, but look at the difference, it was probably soon after the pebble dashing was completed and before they had a satellite subscription too.

That's right Sandra, it's the only one in Whelley now, but Whelley Labour club is still open.
