The photos blurred Mick.

Heffers are female Cows that have not given birth or had any offsprings. Whereabouts in Shevington is this field, at first, I thought it was one of Dennis's around Aspull.

Comment by: Sue on 6th July 2023 at 07:57

Love it!

Comment by: Garry on 6th July 2023 at 08:04

Grazing Cows and Sheep together is the same field is much better for the grass.
Heffers are female Cow.
Cheers Mick.

Comment by: PeterP on 6th July 2023 at 08:10

Mother nature at its best. Cows Sheep and Horses all together

Comment by: Veronica on 6th July 2023 at 08:17

This must be where the meaning of the word “ear marked” comes from..the animals do seem very close.

Comment by: Alan on 6th July 2023 at 08:42

There's a few cows in Shevy.

Comment by: Veronica on 6th July 2023 at 09:02

That’s very naughty Alan …but it made me laugh! You do mean Shangri La don’t you?

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 6th July 2023 at 09:08

Those two heifers are the Hilda Ogdens of the field.....all the other animals are going about their own business, but those two ate having a good "toot" over the fence to see what is going on!

Comment by: Pat McC on 6th July 2023 at 09:13

The heifers look very inquisitive - always thought cows were very calm, docile animals, but they can be quite aggressive. Lovely summer's day photo.

Comment by: Love a good Ride on 6th July 2023 at 09:31

This is next to Forest Fold Farm. There is a mobile cafe next to the field called the Stirrup Cup.

Comment by: Dave on 6th July 2023 at 10:11

Garry and Arthur , all cows are female .

Comment by: Garry on 6th July 2023 at 11:55

Correct Dave.

Comment by: Arthur on 6th July 2023 at 11:58

They are only called Heffers until they give birth, Dave.

Comment by: Coireall on 6th July 2023 at 12:10

'Heifers,' thank you, it is charming to read the comments of those who attended English lessons, you can also ascertain whom were the ones away with the Fairy's or possibly the same pen named person or they're copyists. Though it is a fact nowadays, even when writing a University essay that as long as the reader knows what the writer means, then it doesn't matter if a word is misspelt. Though considering overseas students or the ones for whom English is their second language; and for whom the spelling of words would be looked upon leniently, their essays are always immaculately written and with no misspelt words.

Comment by: Owd Reekie on 6th July 2023 at 12:18

How do you know they are dizygous and not monozygous?

Comment by: Sandra on 6th July 2023 at 12:37

Heffers are females, as soon as they have offsprings they become cows.

Comment by: Dick Dastardly on 6th July 2023 at 12:46

That should be fairies not fairy's .

Comment by: Farm hand. on 6th July 2023 at 13:07

I've always known them as HEFFERS, and I'm not going to change now, not even after spelling it this way for over 40 years.

Comment by: Alan on 6th July 2023 at 13:32

Coireall....nobody is perfect. Fairies and not Fairy's.
And I'm far from perfect.

Comment by: Sally on 6th July 2023 at 13:32

I can see what you mean when we was discussing good quality fences now Mick.

Comment by: Coireall on 6th July 2023 at 13:52

Dick, so happy to know that you're paying attention and that you didn't join the 'Faeries' and waste your time inhaling the smoke from Wild Woodbine or Sweet Afton during breaks.

Comment by: Julie on 6th July 2023 at 15:42

Yes,and it should be 'their' and not 'they're' !!!

Comment by: Dick Dastardly on 6th July 2023 at 16:34

Ooh Julie . See me .

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 6th July 2023 at 16:34

I have always been a reader and have a retentive memory for words, so I just "knew" the word "heifers" but I am an absolute duffer when it comes to adding up! . We ALL have our strengths and our weaknesses and I would never pull anyone up for a spelling or a grammatical mistake any more than I would want to be pulled up because I can't drive a car or change a plug. We are all human beings and no-one is perfect.

Comment by: Veronica on 6th July 2023 at 17:19

They’re as in - they are..
Their as in - their ‘possessions’…
“They’re Copyists”.
“they are copyists’ …
It’s ok to copy as long as there are quotation marks acknowledging someone else’s words.

Comment by: Garry on 6th July 2023 at 17:22

Everybody, does it really matter, we always put our points across and we understand what people are saying, lets not try and make fools out of some good people on
Here. Cheers.

Comment by: Veronica on 6th July 2023 at 19:20

It’s the same person using different names Garry. Best ignored..

Comment by: Garry on 6th July 2023 at 19:41

Veronica and Irene I'm not referring to you, far from it.
I need a Sherry.

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 6th July 2023 at 20:56

I know that, Garry.....pour one for Veronica and myself whilst you're at it!

Comment by: Cyril on 6th July 2023 at 21:03

Garry, some folks don't need any help in that matter. It also makes you wonder when a good majority of the posts under different names have all spelled Heifers as Heffers? It's all Bullocks!

Comment by: Sue on 7th July 2023 at 07:08

Cyril.....can you be more Pacific.

Comment by: Veronica on 7th July 2023 at 08:55

As in the ocean Sue? Or could you be more specific? ;o))

Comment by: Sue on 7th July 2023 at 10:22

Oh my god.
Thank you Veronica specific.

Comment by: Veronica on 7th July 2023 at 11:34

I thought it may have been someone taking the Mick Sue and using your name…

Comment by: Sue on 7th July 2023 at 12:36

No Veronica, definitely me.
Thank you.

Comment by: Edna on 7th July 2023 at 22:17

We'll that Pacific made me laugh then Sue. Sorry!!

Comment by: DTease on 15th July 2023 at 06:59

Sandra, I have known some females turn into cows whilst in the process of giving birth!, and violent cows at that!
