Trying
Photo: Dennis Seddon (Sony DSC-WX500)
Funny one this. I'm not really into Buskers in Towns or anywhere else for monetary donations, if the money goes to charities or other similar organisations that's fine, but most buskers with dogs beside them do it for beer and cigarette money. That I've no time for. This lad looks respectable and hope the money donations do go to charities.
After saying that, I do like the Salvation army singing carols with the band at Christmas time, they bring Christmas spirit to shoppers at the festive season.
Cheers Dennis.
If this was a video, you would be able to hear what tune he was playing.
Has that woman only got one leg or is she dancing?
This photo makes Wigan look good.Last week I was in Wigan and realised how hilly the town is,must be owd age, something I have never thought about in the past.
I recently went into Manchester, a busker was playing 'Dancing in the Moonlight' using sound equipment but he was also using sign language. I am ashamed to say I had never given deaf people and music a thought. The man was amazing, and yes, I did give him money
Do you need a licence to do that.
Well the lad is stood outside the best place for tips. I was in Wigan yesterday it was quite busy - must be the sun bringing folk out!
How dare these street type of pegging people try and obtain money from the general public when most folk don't have money to give with the present economy on its knees. Interest rate has just gone up again aswell as the cost of living crisis.
Buskers can be annoying sometimes especially when they have loud speakers blasting out.
Looks a nice day, Dennis.
By-laws and rules have to be observed. The Council have to be informed and where to perform.
But some do take risks.
Some buskers are really good.If they seem to be trying,I like to show appreciation.
Lovely buildings and Natwest bank still open which is rare sight these days.
I love a good cornet player but I'm not keen on electronic backing tracks .
I'd rather just hear the acoustic sound on its own .
Nice photo for a summer day .
Well it's different!
I would sooner walk the Town without any sort of racket.
Some supermarkets have music blarring out, don't they know some people don't want to hear it.
The UK is going like American everyday. No time for buskers or junk food outlets.
Sometimes don't you wish you were deaf.
I must admit Wigan does look nice in the photo, with the sunshine and the trees. I can almost imagine Marks and Spencer, Debenhams and W H Smith still being open on the other side of the road! I agree with Pw about Wigan being hilly....I have the book "Notes from a Small Island" by Bill Bryson and he visits Wigan and comments on how hilly it is.
Nice to see someone trying to entertain the shoppers. Not seen or heard the Accordion player near Wilko's?
'Sometimes don't you wish you were deaf.'
Pardon?
The Romanian accordion player will have got back home to his villa, his wife and daughter who sell the big issue in and around Wigan told me that they go every year.

Give the lad a break! At least he's not like the aggressive beggars around the Market Place who give you a load of abuse if you don't contribute.
I hope all music-loving Wigan people enjoyed his playing. I'd hazard a guess that he might be a music student - not many people play brass instruments. Like the rest of us, he's trying to make ends meet and entertaining us in the bargain. Hopefully he had a fruitful day.
Not my cup of tea.
Where have all the chuggers gone? Pw try pushing a wheelchair round Wigan. I park up on Dicconson St and I used to cut through the market then the square and up mac's arcade to cut half of the hill out . Now I have to shove the wheelchair either all the way up Standish gate or Market St to get to the top end of Wigan/Grand Arcade
I've not had this much fun since I was mercilessly extradited from Wigan Peers and that nasty Mac refused to let me on Wigan Rejects.
DerickB don't make eye contact with them, It's that easy.
Are they whitewashing the Asylum again?
Excellent photo Dennis. I've been trying to see what it says on his board, and it looks like accreditations under his name which seems to be Marc Robin. Being a street musicians will be trying, though all students do find it's hard to get a job they've trained to do, though the music business is an exceptionally hard business to get into, apparently, and in BGT it seems they always go wild for acrobats or dancers. Good luck to him, and if he is good then the public usually show their appreciation by giving donations for being entertained.
How is it that two different posters have the same name?
Ticsmon on photo's you are a guest and you will always get some one using another posters name .They are sad people who are afraid to use their own no deplume
Just looked back on posts earlier in the week so want to wish Irene and Maureen speedy recoveries. Iechyd da to you both x
Shevvylife, multiple names and making fun of others when you need to look inwards.
