Photo-a-Day (Thursday, 22nd June, 2023)
Across The Water
We have some great places to have a good walk and see wildlife, the Plantations is a lovely place to visit.
Cheers Dennis.
Love it!
Out of the darkness and into the light… quite startling really that scene at first glance. Tree canopies can steal the light. But also refreshingly shady on a hot day!
Its a shame the river is a slow moving one,, I like a river that you can ear.
Ear, ear, Silvia.
Isn't that the bridge that we saw the old cars driving across in the last episode of Foyle's War? I remember seeing views of The Hall and feeling so proud that it was being used in the programme. That's a lovely photo; there is something timeless about it.
Hear........its a purpose mistake to make people bite.
The Bognor Regis ..........
Just one more name tag.. ! It helps if the place is spelt correctly as well….If you live there that is…
Walked over there many times.
Nice photo Dennis.
No,this is not the bridge in Foyles War.
Now then if I had a pound for every time I've crossed that bridge, I would be a rich old woman living half of the year in a carivan and living together half on a canal boat
If they're identifying as cats in that school in Rye , why can't a bloke living in Wigan identify as a woman in Bognor ?
Has he gone full 'trans ' I wonder or does he just wear the frilly undies and high heels .
Great photo Dennis, good how it is surrounded with trees with foliage of different shades of green and leads your eyes to the woman who's leaving the bridge - superb.
If "moanreen" is posing as Maureen, (a lady who has just been in hospital and spoke recently on p-a-d of how she would like to holiday on a canal boat), then they are scraping the barrel. These cowardly and childish nicknames that someone is hiding behind are an insult to this otherwise happy daily look at Wigan and to the photographers who add the photos. Whoever it is wants their nappy changing.
Since they built the dam, if the River Douglas is flowing too fast, and the dam is activated, forming Lake Duggy, then that bridge can end up under water.
They could purposely flood the Douglas Valley using that dam, and put in an Hydroelectrical Scheme at Coppull Lane to power Scholes, and to make up for the loss of the bridge, introduce a ferry service across the lake, using rowing boats.
Irene, this is the bridge over the River Douglas as you walk a short way down into the plantations from the Plantation Gates on Wigan Lane opposite the Infirmary.
Thankyou DerekB and Pw.....trust me to get the wrong bridge!
Irene, I'm sure that the bridge used in Foyle's War was either the railway bridge or the one over the canal, it wasn't this one because the railings were more ornamental and like cast iron. Maureen's getting the guff today and was yesterday too by 'l'âne.'
It would be brilliant if the posts could be blocked. If mine can be I am sure their drivel could be. How utterly exciting for the pea brained idiot when a post gets through… must be like winning the Pools eh?
I understand they don’t like being ignored.. yep that’s best all round.
I think a lot of you are barking up the wrong tree, I saw Mick last week and he told me that he's been run off his feet for the last month, showing his son and family around who have flown over from New Zealand.
And another thing Mick does send in many very good informative photos to this PAD page.
Irene..laugh Harold off as a sick old man..he should be in a loony bin...or sent back to China.lol
Harold doesn't realise that I know why he had to keep changing his name..oh yes,I also know why he had to close his shop outside Bygone times..I've been in and seen his ugly face.
No,this is not the bridge in Foyles War.
Syd Smith, isn't it strange that previous to you posting your comment no one had mentioned any names, nor implied that the unpleasant comments had been posted by any named person, and yet in your comment at 17:57 you have actually named someone.
Harold, you'll never be as young as me..you have to have a good memory to be a good liar,I honestly thought you would have known that.
Cyril..he's not clever enough to realise that..plus his spelling always gives him away...he is what you would say 'A thicko'.
Well spotted Cyril.
I think it’s a few jumping on the bandwagon ’elementary dear Watson’. It’s a game for some …not enough going on in their narrow minds.
Bang on Cyril and if further proof is needed please refer to Dennis's PaD for September 7th 2022 and note the timing of the comments . Here Syd Smith responds to something Mick said even before it became public .
I see what you mean DD just 3 minutes between the posts…. Definitely some ESP going on.
( Said Syd rolling his fag and licking the paper.)
Well spotted Dick, I don't look at the times so hadn't noticed and it can take a while from when you send a comment in to when it appears on the photo page, a lot longer than that difference of three minutes between those posts appearing anyhow. This talk of ESP reminded me of the man who had a TV programme in the early 1970s and supposedly had the ability of ESP, and it was quite a good audience mesmerising programme, though it later turned out to be all faked, looked it up and it was The Amazing World of Kreskin.
My God Cyril ! The Amazing World Of Kreskin ! Can we swap marbles ? I salute your memory, I really do !
