Butchered
Probably is the last butcher, Wayne walker has been coming to Wigan for a few years now, first in galleries on market square, also hope street and marsden street, always had a good following with large queues and the price of products was very reasonable, thanks for sharing Dennis a good quality pic.
There must be some shop available to open a butchers’s shop surely. Perhaps when the Market is finished and opened again (‘whenever’) a Butcher’s stall can return. For that matter we have only one Butcher’s serving all the town where I live aside 4 Supermarkets.
We lost our favourite corner shop butchers when the big supermarkets took the trade from them. Like other shop slowly going to the wall, sadly. Most were family business too for almost 100 years in some cases.
Packet bacon you need a Stanley knife to open it.
Eastern European cheapest of cheap very salty packet bacon.
The old tradition butchers were far much better than any supermarket , wrapped better and teast better. Today everything is plastic wrapped, even though we're trying to stop plastic for the environment.
The fact is, if you Don't used the shop butchers you lose them.
Bit like pubs.
Also keeping the pensioners drinking at Wetherspoons supplied with fresh pigeons too, and 4 for a £1 at that, Arthur in the blue shirt and wanting to catch the bus back to Hindley can be seen peering around the back of the van asking, "have they been plucked yet."
