Photo-a-Day (Wednesday, 22nd March, 2023)
Winter Hill
Looks a bit different to a few years ago when it was on fire.
Very out of focus.
Whenever we have been away and are coming back I always look for Winter Hill then I know we are nearly home.
Looks a right mess to me, this sort of photo would benefit from being touched up.
It looks like it’s been taken from a ‘cubby -hole’ somewhere. It must have been spittin’ rain…. “Oh…. Gerrin’ here I maunt geet wet!
Not up to your usual photo Mick, been having a bad camera day, though saying that it's probably the sort of photo I'd take with a camera with dials for this and that other than a point it and take it camera.
Remember a few years ago there was an amateur or beginner camera and photography course listed at Wigan & Leigh college and I'd put my name down to go on it, however something came up and I had to cancel, I always said if it's ever on again I'd go, but I've never seen the course advertised since, it was probably one of those many courses that were shelved around that time.
I seem to remember around the winter of 1957/1958 a commercial flight crashing on Winter Hill with a considerable number of lives being lost lost. Can anyone confirm this and recall further details?
This photo makes my eyes blurred or have I drank too much sherry.
I'm sure there's been a few plane crashes up there Derek, however here's three about the plane from the Isle of Man to Manchester.
