I dont know any Pink Floyds, would she be George Floyds sister.

I agree Dennis, Pink Floyd are brilliant, they are real talent, not like some of the groups these days.

I hate graffiti full stop. Nothing but desecration… A lovely picture otherwise.

I used to walk up here when I still lived in Ince in 1967 when Pink Floyd sang "See Emily Play"....memories!

Suspect it might be the work of a geriatric hippy.
Has Mick Jagger or Elton John done a "concert" in Wigan recently?

Comment by: DTease on 18th August 2022 at 09:07

If they haven’t Gary, It must be the only place they haven’t done one!
When Mick Jagger dies they’ll have to beat is liver to death with a stick, otherwise it will be out on a comeback tour at the first opportunity.

Behind the wall emblazoned with Pink Floyd there appears to be a black headstone with a red cross painted on it, possibly a reference to Black Sabbath? Maybe this is a meeting place for '60s prog rock fans.

I'm with you on that Dennis. I saw Roger Waters perform The Wall, in Manchester in 2011, Awesome.

That would make a nice album cover . Songs all about canals . They could call it ' The Final Cut ' .

Cyril the headstone is the ratchet for the paddles on the lock gate. Maybe the black paint has chipped off to expose the red undercoat or some one has thrown paint on the box?

I was going to say it's shocking what these kids get up to these days, but then I thought Pink Floyd are an old fashioned band, so whoever done it won't be that young.

Comment by: irene roberts on 18th August 2022 at 11:27

You're right Poet.....Dirty Old Town could be one of the songs....."I met my love by the gasworks croft; Dreamed a dream by the old canal". (I got ridiculed for those lyrics on p-a-d recently and they were correct!). I was 14 in the summer of 1967 when Pink Floyd sang "See Emily Play" and my first boyfriend lived in Whelley and he used to walk me home, (well, as far as Rose Bridge), down that towpath.

They could have it for free, Poet.

Like Veronica,I hate graffiti full stop.I couldn't believe how much of it there was in Barcelona ! Not keen on Pink Floyd either.

Well Mick Jagger must be doing something right, playing to sold out stadiums worldwide after 60 years and moving like someone 60 years younger !

Well Mick Jagger must be doing something right, they're still playing to sold out stadiums worldwide after 60 years and moving like he did when he was 19 years old !
