Photo-a-Day (Saturday, 11th June, 2022)
Alliance Hall
Anyone old enough to remember the Canada Pictures as it was years ago?
Remember going to this theatre when only a small boy, probably with a school outing to watch a pantomime. I remember it being a small place but enjoying the visit. Good photo Dennis, you captured this beautiful old building very well, its almost 130 years old now.
My Dad was the projectionist when it was a cinema,my Mam was visiting a relative in the street that used to be facing the cinema..and the relative asked my Mam to "take these butties across to our Jimmy would you love" she did..and that was that,my Mam was sixteen and my Dad was nineteen ..they lived happily ever after God luv um.
I'll have a plate of whatever that chap's had for breakfast . He does look full o beans don't he .
I was there last weekend watching "Around the World in 80 Days"....my son Jamie played the part of Passepartout.
A lovely old Victorian building that seems safe from demolition! I do remember the smelly green urinal on the the left hand side though which thankfully was demolished.
That's a great love story Maureen, meant to be.
