“Is that a daffodil down there?”

Thats brilliant , just look at the concentration.
We were at The Nene Valley Country Park a few weeks ago. Saw a gathering of about 15 people, when we got to the little bridge we saw they were watching a heron on the side of the stream. He was quite unfazed by the audience he created & was concentrating on the job in hand.

What a wonderful picture . Such concentration . You can feel the latent energy about to unleash . A pond full of frogs should be easy picking for the grey robber .

They are like natures hoovers. A couple of years ago one of my neighbours had a pond and it was full of frog spawn and over night it all disappeared.

It looks more like a tulip, but I don't think it is. What a subtle change from Daffs to hungry Herons.

What a fantastic photo! We occasionally see herons on Polly's Pond in Abram but they are always standing tall and motionless, like statues. It is good to see one in a different position and with such concentration on its face. (DTease, you do make me laugh!).

Veronica, i think DTease is 'taking the mick' out of Shevvy Mick's last 4 P-a-D's.
Brilliant photo David.

A beautiful bird.Saw one on the Thames at Teddington having a feast on small perch also saw a cormorant dive in and come up with large eel.

Went to Southport and whilst driving along Marine Drive saw A white Egret soaring over the boating lake.

Thanks for the comments - the bird is actually just about to fly down to take its position by the pond. I had seen it fly in and land on the pergola (hotly pursued by a magpie), so went upstairs with the camera in the hope that it would still be there. It actually stayed at the back end for a couple of minutes, before striding across, hesitating for a few moments, then launching itself off a couple of seconds after I took the shot.

We have Herons on Scot Lane private fishing pool they made an island and put a plastic Heron on but it only attracted them
