Market Place
Those seats are a bit overpowering aren’t they?

There is one seat for everyone whoever comes to Wigan.

Good pic Dennis, but those seats will be occupied by the down and outs in the evening and they don't get moved on because we do not have a police force to do that anymore thanks to the powers that be these days.

I once asked why they changed the seating at the Market Place and was told it was so they could spot the drug dealing easier on CCTV

Other than the original buildings at back, I wouldnt know it was Wigan. It used to be busy in that area, Corporation buses coming & going.....and people !

I can see the top of the Belisha beacon so the photographer must be up stairs on a Double Decker bus.

Used to catch the bus back to Standish from there before they moved it down Market Street. I thought it might have been cheaper and less disruptive to move the cameras than re-jig all the seats. Do they ever catch drug dealers on the CCTV ?. A good photo all the same Dennis.

Looks like there's enough seats for everybody now who goes to Wigan. They can all sit down and get very friendly. Even have a good moan like us who look back with fondness..;-)

Comment by: TerryW on 25th March 2022 at 10:49

Dennis, the seats are for all the benefit cheats who meet there until the pubs open.

Been there this morning and can't believe how many more shops have closed down since Wednesday ..that's only two days.its just a sin what they're doing to our town....and thank you Dennis.

Good photo.
If you drop on google maps and do a 360, from that vantage point, Wigan looks quite impressive.
Heritage all the way, and hardly a new development in sight.

I see TerryW is now bringing his condescending comments and opinions into this section

Comment by: Annemarie on 26th March 2022 at 11:28

I do feel that the comments by terryw are quite correct. our once unique and happy town is filled with these undesirables and drinkers.
