I used to go to St Thomas's on a Sunday morning as a 11/ 12 yr old. It was one of various churches I frequented in my quest to find out what 'IT' was all about
My parents used to mt travels!
Looks a nice welcoming place today.

That looks very inviting, I have to say. I like the dark wood chairs and tables too, which fit in well with the pews and general decor of the church. Years ago, I used to go in a cafe within a church in Bolton. and they had a few stalls selling hand-crafted goods. Well done to St. Thomas's.

I was in here last week enjoying a mug of hot chocolate and a piece of jam and cream cake.
I like the way they have used some local tree branches for Christmas decoration.

Very few parish churches are dedicated to St Thomas Becket. There is one near me, in Newcastle centre and acts as a university chaplaincy.
What is happening here, in the photo, is a way forward for many people who need company and not be charged the earth for a cup of tea.

This is a beautiful church. A number of my ancestors we baptised, married and buried there. I must find time to travel up to wigqn to visit this lovely church

When I made my comment about ugly pictures is was not about the good people here It was about the sleezy commercial ones on this site. Ayoung relative looking into history of Wigan wanted access I had to say no

Beryl if you travel up to Wigan you'll miss it because it's in Upholland.
