Keven Bentham, if there a bit of spare land Kev will have one of his old vans parked up on it.
Used to work with Kevin, a long long time ago. A lot of my mates worked in that building too.
One of Kevin's regular spots is that Mick, he's a grand lad and does a good job, i had dealings with him a short while ago.
WN1 i still have a pint or two with a few lads who spent all their working lives at this C and D factory.
The building on the right that can just be seen was the H J Heinz Standish factory offices, ironically i left school and my first job was as an apprentice engineer with C and D at their Eccleston factory and my last job was with Heinz, Kitt Green.,
Kevin done a few deliveries for before a bought mu own van, yes he is a good lad.
Plenty of local work then . Most of my mates worked either here or Heinz , all in walking distance of home . It looked like a Lowry painting when the factory whistle blew .
I had forgotten the name "Carrington and Dewhust". I know Kevin too. He did a house-removal for friend of mine. He lives near my son and knows the family. Nice man.
Gone are the days when you could work within a walking distance of home. My first two jobs on leaving school were near home, so much so I went home ' for me dinner' at 12 00. As Irene would say...
It's quite ironic that yesterday's PaD in Clayton Street was across the road from where I started work and todays is across the road from my second job.
