My eyes within my fireplace,
my toast upon its bed,
my frosted windows melting,
our coalman loading shed.
Freezing when you rose up,
then glowing from the flame,
the warmth of mother's embrace,
my fireplace felt the same..
I'm very sorry to point it out David, but this is Clayton Street.
This is on Clayton Street.
It is Clayton Street. Didn't this building used to be Peter Blond's sewing factory ?
Sorry - yes, it is Clayton Street - I think you'd still see an array of chimneys on side of the roof visible from Great George Street though....
Wouldn't you think who ever put that rubbish out would have stacked it neatly on the pallet.
Standisher,I can't recall whereabouts the factory was, perhaps someone else can tell you more.
Further down where the garage doors are is where my Grandparents lived for a short while before going to live in Great George St.
My Aunt and Uncle lived facing the garage doors and Albert Eckersley who was a one time Mayor for Wigan lived in a side street also facing the garage doors.
Sort that lot out Santa! You’ll have to cut down on the choccy biscuits to get down those chimneys!
Yes,I think Peter Blond's factory was there.
It'll be like a foggy day along there when all those burners are fired up.
Somehow I doubt Black Diamond would be supportive of Greta Thunberg and those extinction rebellion lot.
OUTLET, being the operative word !!!
I might get one of those for my mountain shack .
