In a World...
So true
I started work at the black and white building at the very top of the photo when I left school in 1969. It was a chemists back then.
Exactly Mick, like I said on yesterday's PAD. "Be who you are, say what you feel, Because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter Don't Mind" !! RIP. Caroline.
Irene I was worried when you missed commenting on yesterdays Pad of the Gidlow Glorious Gladiolus, glad to see you are still with us.
Thankyou Mick! It's nice to be missed!
The infamous Ash Vegas!
As sung by Tony Christie
The Lord above made the world for us
but the devil made Ash Vegas
hey Ash Vegas can nothing save us from you
day after day watching with glee as the town hall gets knocked down
hey Ash Vegas the devil made you
and one of these days I'm gonna burn you down
Alas! poor Howard has gone for his last long bike ride. No more secret meetings with Marina among the rolling hills around Holmfirth, no more escaping the all-seeing eye of Pearl for a cuddle in the clover.
Farewell Howard, I hope you and Marina find a place up there where Pearl will never find you.
Sorry Mick but I couldn't let his passing go without a comment.
Hi Boldo, Tony Christie and I go back 48 years to 1973. My wife and I
ran his Fan Club worldwide from 1974. I did part time work for him at
theatres and cabaret clubs, mainly throughout the United Kingdom, and
occasionally in Germany and Spain. Tony and I are still in touch, he will
be starting a tour of smaller theatres and venues in the UK in October.
Cheers, Ray.
DTease, I LOVE Howard and Marina! I wrote to Jean Fergusson twice, once when I had read her brilliant book on the life of Hylda Baker and once when I saw her one-woman show at The Octagon in Bolton about Hylda's life. She was absolutely amazing! She replied very warmly to both my letters. They will always live on for me in repeats of Last of the Summer Wine.....Ohhhh, HOWARD!....Ohhh, Marina! ....(Pearl appears).....Ohhhh 'eck!
Well Done DTease. That upset me as well, as each one passing does. If there is one programme that is an antidote to this mad mad world it is Last Of The Summer Wine.
God Bless Howard, Sleep Well.
I wish him well and you too Ray.
looks like he enjoyed himself with Peter Kay on Amarillo, unlike Jim Bowen's flapping in the breeze wig. https://youtu.be/yqLLDZvbG-U
