Now that's outstanding, crystal clear, every detail shown, award winning photo.
Thank you Dave, I always look forward to your photos.

I took a similar photo a couple of years ago of two Robins fighting, but I didn't send it into Wiganworld Photo a day because it was taken just over the Wigan border in Hoscar Moss.

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 10th March 2021 at 08:22

It looks like a painting. How unusual!

Comment by: DTease on 10th March 2021 at 08:47

That sounds like a bit of the “Green eyed monster” Mick. Why can you not just give Dave the credit he deserves for a great photo?

Comment by: lock lass on 10th March 2021 at 08:53

Beautiful photo Dave, every colour on these birds is outstandingly clear. Thankyou.

'Poetry in motion'. Looks like a dance to the death, I hope not! Well caught,

Comment by: Edna on 10th March 2021 at 09:13

This is an outstanding photo Dave, very clear and beautiful colours. Also I agree with Irene.Thank you Dave.

Comment by: Arthur on 10th March 2021 at 09:14

Well you can't get a better photo than this. Absolutely beautiful top draw. Dave your number one.

Comment by: Mick on 10th March 2021 at 09:29

Teasy I'm not telling megans, this actually happened, I also caught two Buzzard's doing a falling down out of the sky mating display over the Robrite wood 3 weeks ago but when I uploaded the photo they came out like two black plastic bin bags, so that didn't get sent in either.

Brilliant phot Dave, not many have been able to capture such a shot. Last week we had the exact same in our garden both Goldfinches were so engrossed in their squabble that they failed to notice our kitchen window crashing into it, thankfully, no injuries.

We are treated to some world glass photography by Dave and I for one thankfull.
Always something different.

It's easy to see from this splendid photo and very apt title , how the Goldfinch got its Latin name of Carduelis Carduelis .

Comment by: David Barker on 10th March 2021 at 11:56

Stunning photograghy Dave, well captured, top marks.

Comment by: Broady on 10th March 2021 at 13:19

There is no doubt this is a great photo but what is the connection to Wigan? It appears to be in a garden with no trees, no bushes, no grass and no sign of any sky!!!!

Comment by: janet on 10th March 2021 at 13:31

no background dave very suspect

Comment by: Veronica on 10th March 2021 at 14:16

This is so beautiful, I am doing a sketch of it at the moment. Just to keep , I hope you don't mind David.

Comment by: Rainh on 10th March 2021 at 15:16

Is this a photo of a painting ?

Comment by: Bruce Almighty on 10th March 2021 at 16:15

It's not a photo., it's a computer generated image.

Comment by: Tom on 10th March 2021 at 16:44

Bruce - It's a photo I believe but if it was taken in Wigan is another matter...

Comment by: Veronica on 10th March 2021 at 17:29

It could be taken with the sky in the background from the top of a hill surely. Especially zooming in and I am no expert.

Comment by: James Hanson on 10th March 2021 at 17:42

Make Your Photos Look Professional -

Computer-Enhanced Image

A picture that has been digitized and modified in the computer. For example, once a photograph has been scanned into the computer, it can be changed in numerous ways using an image editor. The brightness and contrast can be adjusted, colors can be changed and images can be superimposed. There is no end to the amount of alterations that can be applied to an image.

IthinkBruce is right. Those two birds could be the same one. A "fight"? I'd say they've never even seen each other.

Comment by: Veronica on 10th March 2021 at 23:40

The wing on the bird on the left is 'blurred' with fluttering, that tells me it's a photograph. I think it's a birds eye view, Dave would have crouched down to get the photo.

Comment by: Broady on 11th March 2021 at 03:40

He must have crouched really low to get no background at all. I would say nigh on impossible.

Comment by: Garry on 11th March 2021 at 08:26

You all have to remember that Dave (0y) is a top professional photographer. He would have purposely blanked the background to draw attention to the birds.

Comment by: Veronica on 11th March 2021 at 09:02

Spot on Garry.
Actually I should have said 'worm's eye view...
Getting birds and worms muddled. Yes he could have crouched very low. Nevertheless, it's a brilliant photo, I have drawn one bird - on with the next! Thanks for the inspiration Dave.

Always look forward to PAD,some are more relevant to me than others but I would never critiicise anyone's photo.

Comment by: George (Hindley) on 11th March 2021 at 19:43

There's something very un-natural about this picture (be it a photo or an image, it's a picture).
In every 'Goldfinches fighting' photograph shown on the web, both birds have their beaks wide open.
Two birds fighting wouldn't have their beaks closed, silent and calm, as if they're reading a newspaper.
I wouldn't class this as an original photograph. But not many are these days.

verdict its a fake dave
