First deer, now elephants. Whatever will Shevington have first next?

Thanks, Mick, I saw this on the local news and thought it was brilliant.

This an elephant??? It looks like a sculpture by someone only ever having had a description of an elephant. Much like old drawings produced following descriptions by explorers of exotic animals.

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 9th March 2021 at 08:21

I bet it'll never forget Mick!

I bet “Frank” will like this one. Looks like it needs a bit more stuffing.

Comment by: Wiganer on 9th March 2021 at 08:59

Some strange things in Shevy but not surprised.

The Shevington Nook Elephant ?? Whats a elephant got to do with Shevington ? Its obviously a much later version of the beast than the Wooly Mammoth, did Shevvy have Wooly Mammoths ?

I was talking to its owner last week and he was saying he's training it to Ski, he said they are starting it off by just standing on two planks of wood before taking him to the dry ski slope up in Rossendale, and if that works out he will then head up to Scotalnd to try him out on some real snow

It does look a bit like a cardboard cut out, I wonder what 'Frank' thinks about it. I bet he's the 'game warden' round Shevvy. It's an improvement on yesterday photo.

I'm sure it said on Granada News that the bloke who bought it had had it installed in his back garden in Appley Bridge ? It does sound effects too. btw Mick, that chap you filmed on Coppull Lane last year walked past our house yesterday again, looked in fine fettle.

Well done Mick. After some complaints regarding the number of photos of Aspull and Haigh and requests for more variety in the photos, you certainly have fulfilled the wishes!

Comment by: Broady on 9th March 2021 at 23:19

Was it a complaint or a comment? Was it singular or plural? IMO the elephant looks hideous.

Comment by: Mick on 9th March 2021 at 23:52

Its not real Broady, but it does look like a Elephant that you would see in the wild.
Just have a look at this video of some Elephants that my missis is feeding bananas to in Sri Lanka and you will see they look the same.

I know that Mick. Just does nothing for me. It looks leaner than the elephants I have seen albeit they were in a zoo.

Comment by: Mick on 10th March 2021 at 10:02

Its not meant to do anything for Broady, its just a photo of part of Wigan.
I thought that would be it, you only seeing well fed Elephants in a zoo, a lot of folk use to only see them in the circus and and come away thinking that they wear make up around there eyes and have nice coloured blankets on there backs.
