I saw one in the Robrite a couple of weeks ago, but by the time I pointed my camera at it, it had vanished, then I saw a glimpse of it about 100 yards away

Another page on the Wigan Calendar... Deer in March. Who'd have thought to see Deer in Ince.

Comment by: DTease on 6th March 2021 at 09:03

The Hunter did a-shooting go
And under his arm he carried a bow
All for to shoot at the merry little doe
Among the leaves so green-o.
From a song I remember from schooldays.
Wouldn’t go down well these days would it ?

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 6th March 2021 at 09:10

All together now....."Doh, a deer, a female deer" (or it may be a male). Anyway, he/she is beautiful. (I'll be singing that all day now!).

Hindley Veronica.
Nice one Dave.

Comment by: Maureen on 6th March 2021 at 09:39

That's a lovely shot Dave,do you know I've never seen one in real life,and it's a goal of mine..they're beautiful aren't they.

Comment by: Arthur on 6th March 2021 at 10:06

That's why Dave is much more professional with the camera than you mick.
Excellent Dave.

Comment by: Veronica on 6th March 2021 at 10:21

Hindley man.. Oh! doh! :o))

Comment by: Mick on 6th March 2021 at 11:30

Hindley man you are spot on with those comments.

But But But I bet Ive seen and filmed more Deer in all areas of Wigan than anyone else, including Deer with horses, Deer swimming in the canal, Deer in the woods, Deer running up farm tracks, Deer messing about in fields and one Deer that had just got run over.

Comment by: Edna on 6th March 2021 at 12:59

lovey photo Dave, they are beautiful., thank you.

Comment by: Veronica on 6th March 2021 at 13:04

You're definitely the best at blowing your own trumpet Mick, I wouldn't argue about that. You seem to be stuttering a bit as well today.

Comment by: DTease on 6th March 2021 at 13:33

The one that got run over Mick, it wasn’t running away from a strange human on a two wheeled contraption pointing a camera at him was he?

Comment by: Cyril on 6th March 2021 at 13:43

Wonderful.

Hindley man, I've only ever heard locals say - 'ingley. No idea as to why.

Comment by: Garry on 6th March 2021 at 13:54

Oh DEER Mick.

Comment by: Hindley man. on 6th March 2021 at 14:33

Cyril its usually inley, Wigan the same Wingin.

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 6th March 2021 at 14:55

Cyril, when I was a little girl my Mam always said we were going to Ingley Market, and I can actually remember one day, when I had just learned to read, we were standing at the bus-stop as the bus pulled in, and I looked at the destination board and realising we were actually going to HINDLEY!!

Comment by: George (Hindley) on 6th March 2021 at 16:04

I can confirmmany locals call it 'ingley.

Comment by: janet on 6th March 2021 at 16:26

Comment by: Mick on 6th March 2021 at 17:19

Teasy no it wasnt, maybe somebody's pet dog had spook it,
Some of you who haven't stepped outside all day can laugh all want, all I can do is give you the honest facts.

Comment by: Wiganer on 6th March 2021 at 17:40

On yoh bike mick, don't know what your talking about and I don't think you do.

Comment by: . Ozy . on 6th March 2021 at 19:32

There are times when I wonder why you even bother Mick.
God knows I've persevered, but I've finally arrived at the conclusion that there are certain individuals that comment on here that would struggle to locate their own backsides using both hands.
It's getting almost as bad as the general board these days.
I would like to make it clear that I don't include DTease among the aforementioned window lickers by the way, as I have the greatest respect for that guy.
Now if you'll excuse me, I now intend to retire to the security of my Anderson shelter to await the incoming flak, which, as per usual, will bounce like the proverbial water off the proverbial duck's back.

Comment by: Broady on 6th March 2021 at 19:40

In really snowy weather we have had them on our front lawn foraging to try to find grass. I took photo’s last Spring no more than a couple of yards from one. We turned a corner and there it was. Beautiful.

Comment by: I'm great on 6th March 2021 at 20:04

What a nice evening it is.

Comment by: Broady on 6th March 2021 at 20:06

Irene,
I don’t know if you use Facebook messenger but I have just sent you a couple of photo’s.

Comment by: Mick on 6th March 2021 at 22:50

Ozy I think a lot of the comments are from the deadbeats who have spoiled the messageboards

Comment by: Alan on 7th March 2021 at 09:13

I think some come on here make silly stupid remarks, spoil the purpose as to what this post is all about which is of course the photo.
To be fair to everyone on here Ozy
you make some diabolical statements yourself, So I don't think your in a position to make that assumption.
Ozy makes accusations then disappears for weeks.
This a great Pad let's keep it that way.

Comment by: Arthur on 7th March 2021 at 09:26

Ozy you seem the blame everyone
on here apart from DTease, so
what your saying is we're all having a go at Mick apart from you and DTease. Well looking back I think you and DTease contribute to that. Let face it Mick does give his fair share of flak and criticism out.
Lighten up most of it's banter anyway. I would have thought even you would have know that.

Comment by: Hindley man. on 7th March 2021 at 09:57

I think mick gives it out and enjoys having it back

Comment by: Veronica on 7th March 2021 at 14:55

It's all planned!...

Comment by: Jack Mellor. on 7th March 2021 at 16:07
