Some good foot/cycle paths around Amberswood, but make sure you have some extra peddle left in you if you come across some of the local feral youths who patrol this area

Lovely photo. So peaceful.

Another one for a Wigan (Nature) calendar .

Mick lad, l've dog walked this area for many years now, when walking you tend to see more than riding a pushbike, honestly, not seen any trouble or misbehaving at all. Sorry Mick to disappoint you but you have got it all wrong about Hindley, Platt-Bridge and Ince etc. Ok not perfect, but what place is??

Comment by: Jean on 5th March 2021 at 12:10

Garry I agree totally with you i was born in Ince moved away when I got married then came back 19years ago yesterday We have never experienced any real problems ok it maybe not the best place in the Wigan area to live but it certainly isn’t the worst so please stop trying to put it down

Lovely photo Dave, just saying Mick, there are feral youths everywhere, not just in one corner of Wigan.

Feral is as wild as me ,
Blind as bats not look to see,
The parents who my God made me ,
Did not control but just set free ,
To run a way and pick my choice ,
Without a hand or stricter voice ,
A sounding board I never had ,
To give me guidance ,
what’s good , what’s bad .
So on the streets I ply my trade ,
Feral cat , born, bred ...made ..

I remember this area when it was just pit rucks,a large council tip and crisscrossed with railway lines. There were also many flashes and ponds to fish in.It was a kids paradise.I remember when they reclaimed the land but have never been back for donkeys years. It seems a popular place.

Garry Lad, don't forget you have a dog for protection, and more than likely know the local youths.
If you dont believe me just look at how many of them who are up against the magistrates have Hindley, Platt-Bridge and Ince postcodes

Look,... just forget pedal power Michael.
If by chance you should clock the Miller's lane chapter of the Platt Wazz hoodies rapidly bearing down in your rear view mirror, then just set the human/machine interface module on your electronic boneshaker to warp factor.... That would be my advice.....simple...
You'd probably arrive safely back in Shevvy a full half hour before you left this morning.
The cheeky little disenfranchised doped up scamps wouldn't be able to catch you with a sidewinder missile mate...trust me.

...Go steady cobber...

Mick I don't have a Rottweiler dog, my little dog won't protect me, not than I need protecting. I don't know any youths because I don't see any especially in groups on my walks. As for magistrates, well your probably referring to the Wigan Observer Magistrates round-up, well in this weeks Obby people who got finded are from all over Wigan, but none from the area's you mentioned. As I've said before Hindley, Platt Bridge and Ince are not perfect but no different than any other parts of Wigan, good and bad everywhere.
Now time to take the dog out.

Later Veronica, before my walk this morning I had a drop of Brandy in my tea...great with the cold morning walk.
Cheers.
