How many more views of Aspull are there? Has no one got a camera in Platt Bridge, Abram or Ashton etc.

Comment by: PeterP on 4th March 2021 at 06:15

Could be any patch of grass with snowdrops and tat-a-tat daffs?

Comment by: Janette on 4th March 2021 at 07:51

A beautiful corner of Aspull, one of the many.

Changed a lot since we were kids eh Dennis. Remember playing here climbing the trees, having a crafty smoke from a Woodbine someone had nicked from their dads packet. Oh such fond memories, thanks Dennis a lovely photo.

I like to place myself from the photographers standpoint with the help of google. This picture does not look to be Holly Nook on google. Is Holly Nook an area rather than a street?

Comment by: Dennis Seddon on 4th March 2021 at 09:44

Anne, those houses are on Copesthorne Close. Holly Nook is the area of trees off Haigh Road.

Comment by: Mick on 4th March 2021 at 10:22

Im glad you asked that question Anne because I was getting a bit confused as well.

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 4th March 2021 at 10:29

If this appears twice, I apologise, but I am putting comments on here at the moment that are not being shown....I don't know why. When I repeat them, they are shown. Anyway, it was just to say that I agree with Broady. All the photographs seem to be of Wigan Park, Standish, Aspull or Haigh and it really would be nice to see other areas such as Ince, Abram or Hindley. Unfortunately I don't have a camera and my very simple mobile phone only does calls and texts, but I'm sure other people have a photo-taking phone. This is in no way a criticism of Dennis's lovely photos, or any of our regular photographers, and I'm sure the reason for the same areas being photographed is because the scenes are near their homes, but it would be nice to have a change.

Got it now Dennis. I think your stood under trees other side of the street. Last house in the cul-de-sac. Thanks for picture and directions.

I agree with Broady and Irene, if more people would take photos of their local area the better it would be, especially during lockdown.
Most people have a camera on their phone and it’s no trouble to send them in by email.

There's always a good show of Spring flowers in Aspull, I've missed going through there in the lockdown and since the bus has been taken off. I suppose there is a limit of places for PAD contributors during the lockdown, once 'normal' returns things might be different. Thanks for taking the trouble to take the photo Dennis.

Lovely photo Dennis,I like the name as well.. Irene... I have had the same problem, with comments When you submit, scroll up to see has it gone.If not it will ask for you verification number again in red, just put that in and it should go..Also my phone takes photos, but I don't know how to put them on.xx

Dennis: Your photography is brilliant, nice and crisp, and you pick your subject matter brilliantly.
However I do miss DTease’s photos, he used to throw a cow in, or a tractor.

Comment by: Garry on 4th March 2021 at 13:27

I don't need to go anywhere, I have most Spring bulbs in my own garden, ie Daffodils, crocus, tulips, snowdrops and bluebells.
The snowdrops have almost finished now, sadly.

Comment by: Frank on 4th March 2021 at 13:47

Irene it can be dangerous walking around the areas you want photos of with an expensive camera around you neck, so maybe that's why you don't get these areas coming up.
I used to like to see Mikes photos, he seems to get all around Wigan with his camera, but I'm not seeing as many sent in be him lately.

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 4th March 2021 at 14:35

Thankyou Frank, for your comments on "the areas I would like to see" and the dangers therein! I'm sure there are good and bad people in ALL the areas around Wigan, including Aspull, Standish and Haigh, and I have never felt the slightest "danger" in the 47 years I have lived in Abram. It is a lovely village.

Comment by: Frank on 4th March 2021 at 15:50

Irene your a local lady and you have you said don't have a expensive camera, so nobody will bother you.

Comment by: DTease on 4th March 2021 at 19:33

Amazingly, "Frank" seems to make the same spelling mistakes as Mick?

Comment by: Veronica on 4th March 2021 at 19:51

Well spotted Dtease ..

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 4th March 2021 at 20:04

Well spotted indeed, Veronica and DTease! You were one up on me there but I see what you mean! xx

Comment by: . Ozy . on 4th March 2021 at 21:18

I would disagree DTease, as unlike Mick, Frank would appear to have grasped the concept of the apostrophe....generally.

Comment by: Daveyboy on 4th March 2021 at 21:40

I don't think this was intended to show off your house and motor

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 4th March 2021 at 22:02

Ozy, he said "your a local lady", not "you're a local lady". It seemed rather familiar!! I don't care who it is, "Frank" or otherwise, but I personally would never hide behind a false name.... If I have anything to say, good or bad, I say it using my own name. If Frank is a newcomer to photo-a-day, (as I have never seen his name before), I apologise for doubting him. but I'm inclined to agree with Veronica and DTease. There was something just so familiar about the wording as well as the grammar. We will probably never know!

Comment by: DTease on 4th March 2021 at 22:11

Ozy, his grasp of the difference between "your" and "you're" still seems to be a little limp wristed.

Comment by: Veronica on 4th March 2021 at 23:28

The clincher for me is -
" I used to like to see Mikes photos, he seems to get all around Wigan with his camera, but I'm not seeing as many BE him lately".

Comment by: Veronica on 4th March 2021 at 23:33

'Trumpet' and 'blowing' being the operative words..
