Standish Field
Looks an inviting place to walk. I love the Winter tree shapes against the 'touched up' sky.
I like this photo. I like the tree over to the right which breaks up the line of the field.
Nice peaceful picture, is the grass that green at this time of year ?
It's most likely to be an overwintering grain crop Helen, maybe wheat or barley.
Who said Standish was full of houses?
You are quiet correct Cyril, the grass is the yellow stuff on the edge of the field.
I was once told that the writer of the Green Grass of Home song was originally going to be about a field full of a overwintering grain crop, but they couldn't make it rhyme, so they come up with Green Green Grass
Where exactly is that Mick?
It's just like that on the other side of my garden wall, it is an overwintering crop. Having said that, the grass on the lawn is exactly the same green. Maybe this cold snap hasn't done any harm.
Linma its next to the footpath that you used to walk along when you was on your way home from Shevy school
Standish is full of houses
Theres lots of countryside in Standish.
There's a lot of houses and traffic too.
Thanks Mick. So if I turned right would I then be heading towards the back of Wigan Road?
I think the Hermitage pond is just ahead, lower left
Linma Im stood on the farm track that goes down to Standish Hall farm from Beech Walk
The skyline is Ashurst beacon
Your not where I thought you were Mick
Its because Im at home now
In the middle of a field in Standish and not Church Lane, Shevington ?
