Crane
Photo: Mick Byrne (Panasonic DMC-TZ100)
A sullen sky over Southlands Ave , the undisputed home of the immaculate hedge . Sad about Chadwick's , but to lose one butcher and gain two seems fair exchange .
The crane and the dark clouds remind me of the LP cover of "The War of the Worlds" Album..."The Chances of Anything Coming from Mars". Sadly, there's no chance of anything coming from Chadwick's now! I didn't shop there often due to not living nearby but it was a nice shop and cafe and their chips were delicious.
not your best photo mick
For Mick, this is probably about demolish and rebuild with mod cons!!
The sky looks as if it's been 'fiddled' with... reminds me of hanks of knitting wool in various shades of grey. It's different....I think there was a Chadwick's
butcher's shop in Westhoughton at one time.
Mick, have you any idea why they're using that size of crane? I thought you could cheekily nip in, on your bike, on passing, and ask the site agent?
With a crane that like that how tall are those apartments going to be when built? and will those who reside thereabouts still have a view of the West Pennine Moors?
Yes Gary your spot on, Chadwicks knocked down a very old shop building because it wouldnt have fitted in with the new development
Like I said yesterday some building are much better being knocked flat.
I was talking to a resident of Southlands Ave before they got planning passed. He was very unhappy to say the least and said that the rear of this construction would be able to see right into their bedrooms from the upper floors. I think the residents tried to get it stopped. That probably explains the height of the crane. I think Mick has already had a cycle onto the site when it was first levelled.
CRANE ALERT: I was driving past today and it seems there is an even BIGGER crane being constructed in the middle of the site. How high is the new building going to be ?
