Only change is eternal

Good reminder of how it once was Dennis. I remember from childhood it was where Alf Leigh the farmer - cum - butcher lived. Where we live now I have noticed a trend to demolish bungalows then replace with two or more three storey houses, building land is very valuable.
I hope it is left where it is and renovated. It would make a lovely home.
Lived on Bolton Road 1951 -55 and 1963-69; that chapel house used to intrigue me.
There are a few of these around Cumbria and Co Durham but not as popular as they were in the 1980s, mainly due to high ceilings and heating issues.
Interesting one, Dennis.
Used to visit family friends who lived in this bungalow, probably late 50's early 60's. Brian & Betty who ran the hardware store at the top of the high street in Hindley at that time. Lovely garden. Fond memories
I wonder what happened to the stained glass windows. It would have been a pity to get rid of them especially the round one. It looks nice and secluded around the building.
It would be a shame to demolish this, and re build.
Best thing to do with old buildings is to knock them flat and start again with something bigger and with all the mod cons.
So much so for a sacred ground,
where once prayer hands reached to Heaven,
and choral voices and brethren cast,
opened their lungs like a high seas mast,
spreading their voices to sing with praise,
as seagulls hung on a brisk wind wave ,
and the captain's pause read the sermons words,
Gods own promise that the angels heard,
to a brethren's wait , left a Heaven bird...
Mick seems to know the price of everything and the value of nothing........
Where is this on Bolton Road?
