Steptoe's boat
Good photo Mick - I 'rudder' to think how the craft's captain might dress, though.
License, insurance and boat safety certificate all in hand?
Looks like it needs a horse to tug it along as well..perhaps there is one chewing grass somewhere...
the African queen lives on next tour 3 pm good photo mick
Whatever it looks like the boat is someone's pride and joy.
Spot on, Mortarmillbill , and what memories a photograph can bring. It puts me in mind of my son's first car ...all the doors, bonnet etc. were different colours. But he was so proud taking me "out for a meal"...a chip barm at The Balcarres at Haigh , and we had to sit where he could see the car through the window so no-one would pinch it!! Talk about Rafferty's Motor Car...."two of the wheels are triangular and the third one's off a pram"! But it was a Rolls Royce to Our Jamie. He was 17 that day and is 43 now, and we have been for posher meals in posher cars but nothing will ever quite match Rafferty's Motor Car and my chip barm! with my lad!
Ee by gum our Irene, you was posher than me having chips on a barm, I was only used to having mine on thick slices of Rathbones
Mick, I will never forget it! We went in the pub and there was no-one else in. The landlord was leaning on the bar reading the rugby page in the paper. Jamie said, "Can we have two chip barms please?" and, without taking his eyes off the paper, the landlord bellowed through to the kitchen: "Mary! Knock thisel abeaut a bit ! Two chip barms!" It was like dining at The Ritz !
A very touching tale Irene...reminds me of when my Mam bought me a second hand bike for £2 10s. It was a black, sit up and beg, when everybody else had a red BSA, not only that it was dangerous and falling to bits! One thing it made you value things later on..;o))
Hard to believe no one's spotted the captain in the window.
Dave I did but worth nothing to mention.
It looks like Capt. Birdseye...
To each his own.
