Such lovely plumage. Yet, I still wonder why this bird seems to show no relish whatsoever for its meals, and why certain others seem to show the way. The 'big cats' masticate flesh before digesting, and then lick the bones until dry, but the heron just zloops flesh down and around its helter-skelter neck, as if there were no tomorrow. Disgusting! And so, to him, or her, of fine, grey plume, I'll throw a weighty perch, and then say "Here, stick your pecking-pike into that, and show some table manners!".

Good catch both of you. That's a bigger perch than any I ever caught at scotman's flash back in the day.

Great photo, thanks David.
Quick question, how did you get so close, I thought these birds were so timid! I've seen a few and whenever I'm within 50yds they're off.
